Pune police refuse to take complaint from a woman over electricity theft

A woman has alleged that she was threatened with a sickle and an axe after reporting an alleged electricity theft in her area. She claims the incident left her frightened and prompted her to approach the local police station for help.

According to the woman, the police did not register her complaint despite making her wait for several hours. She further alleged that, despite repeated follow-ups over the past few months, no concrete action has been taken. Frustrated over the delay, she has now approached the Police Commissioner's Office, seeking justice and action in the matter.

The allegations have raised questions about the handling of citizen complaints and the local police's response.

So, Naresh Pal Gangwar is the new Higher Education Secretary now? The same guy whose family (mom, wife, and son) conveniently split up cucumber farms to bag ₹1.16 crore in subsidies?

And let’s not forget his boss, Bhagirath Choudhary, who grabbed nearly ₹1 crore for his own cucumber patch under the same scheme he’s supposed to oversee.

The scheme literally has a ₹1 crore cap per family, but I guess when you’re an elite IAS officer with "non-dependent" relatives, the rules are more like...  suggestions? He only declared one project for years, claiming the others didn’t count because, well, service rules are apparently optional if you’re high-ranking enough.

While students are literally on the streets demanding accountability for NEET paper leaks, the government’s big move is to put a guy at the helm of higher education whose family treated a farmer welfare scheme like a cash cow.

Accountability for thee but not for me. If you’re connected enough, you can turn a cucumber farm into a crore-plus empire and still get promoted to fix the very system you gamed. Welcome to the new normal.

Only time courts work fast is when they are working for the rich

The Bombay High Court has restored the food licence of Pune's popular Pind Punjab restaurant after a fresh FDA inspection found it to be 100% compliant with food safety norms. The court observed that once all deficiencies were rectified, the earlier suspension automatically lost its effect.

The restaurant's licence had been conditionally suspended by the FDA Pune Division on June 23 following an inspection. After a fresh inspection on July 8 confirmed full compliance, the High Court directed that the pending appeal be closed. Pind Punjab resumed operations on Thursday evening.

Look how fast the court restored the licence, if it was this easy to be compliant why is everyone not already compliant.

Is this the new norm? Take a suspension, go to court and now you are 100% compliant?

No justification for 3541 Cr spent under Ladki Bahin Yojna: CAG. 15,586 Cr transferred to Virtual Personal Deposit Accounts

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has raised serious concerns over Maharashtra's financial transparency, stating that the state's off-budget debt reached ₹28,235 crore by the end of the 2024–25 financial year.

The CAG report has also flagged the fact that Rs 15,586 crore was parked in during the last quarter of the year to virtual personal deposit accounts without immediate utilisation

"This large-scale withdrawal indicates that the funds were not required for immediate use and were drawn from the treasury without actual expenditure needs," the report said.

CAG has flagged excess expenditure of Rs 3,541.16 crore parking of thousands of crores in deposit accounts and deficiencies in financial management in the implementation of the Maharashtra government's flagship Ladki Bahin scheme.

The CAG's report on the state finances for 2024-25 notes that there was a sharp rise of spending for women's welfare from Rs 261.78 core in 2023-24 to Rs 33,554.36 crore in 2024-25 especially under the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Behen Yojana. This, the report said, "reflects a major push toward welfare oriented transfers rather than capital formation."

Same uniform different day different crime

A case has been registered against six Pune Rural Police personnel following allegations of kidnapping and demanding ₹5 lakh from four tourists travelling to Lonavala. The complainant, an insurance analyst from Viman Nagar, alleged that he, Mohammad Kashan Azmi (28), Azmi's wife, and Syed Zubair Ahmed were stopped near Kamshet on July 6 by men claiming to be police officers. According to the complaint, they were held for around seven hours, their mobile phones were taken, and they were allegedly pressured to pay money after being accused of carrying banned substances. The group was rescued after one of them reportedly sent an emergency alert using a smartwatch, prompting a police response. A case has now been registered, and the matter is under investigation.

The establishments facing action include Hotel Grand Purandar (Sinhagad Road), Crown Bakers (Sinhagad Road), Agrotees Catering Pvt. Ltd. (Ambegaon), Barkat Biryani House (Wagholi), Royal Biryani House (Wagholi), and National 360 (Bavdhan). The FDA said strict action will continue against businesses violating food safety norms and urged citizens to report food quality complaints on the toll-free helpline 1800-222-365.

Which is better for my future, an internship in the cybersecurity domain which I am currently pursuing or an A4 job in Capgemini for a year in a domain which I will not practice later

As a 2026 graduate who got his joining date just a day before yesterday, I haven't been more confused than now.
I had received the LOI last October, and there was no communication from their side after that, so I had given up on it and started studying cybersecurity.
A job is better than an internship, but in terms of experience, I'm having doubts whether this will help me change domains later.

Does anyone know if the Maharashtra Government provides a subsidy for rainwater harvesting setup, like it does for solar.

With the looming threat of Super El Niño, it's important to save water by whatever means necessary. Many cities have started to cut water supply to a few hours a day or alternate days.

A rainwater harvesting setup might help for the current situation as well as in the long run.
