First of all, in Maelle’s ending, is she forcing Verso to play the piano? Like, using the painting to make him play against his will? And secondly, was the Gustave she brought back actually the real Gustave, or just some kind of copy?

I chose Verso’s ending because, as horrible as that genocide is, it also finally resolves the Dessendre family’s trauma and grief. Plus, like Sciel said, she’s at peace knowing what happens after death, meaning she’ll reunite with everyone she lost, including her husband.

As for Maelle’s ending, those two questions are exactly why I made this post. It’s heartbreaking to see Verso forced to live a life he clearly doesn’t want while watching his sister slowly die, but at the same time, seeing Gustave alive again feels so emotional and relieving. Yet if that isn’t even the real Gustave, then the whole ending becomes much more dark and sadder.
