Android app for tracking subscription boxes and preorders!

Hey everyone! A while back I'd created an Android app to keep track of all my subscriptions, particularly the skip dates. When I saw someone making one for iOS, I was inspired to make mine something that other people could use as well!

It's now available in the Google Play store (for free) and it's named BookHaul. It allows you to track subscriptions and preorders/one-off orders, fill out sub info from scratch or pick from a preset library, put in tracking info and get a link to parcelsapp, keep track of all your skips so you don't hit your limit, see your past and projected spending (honestly that tab is scary, maybe you should just avoid that one) and the most important part - set in-app or push notifications before payment dates and skip deadlines.

I'm going to try putting it out on the iOS app store in a couple days as well, but full credit to u/OGFurious - his CrateLog is already up and ready for download on the store, so check that out! His post was what inspired me in the first place.

BookHaul was tested thoroughly, but there's always room for improvement. So if you see something wrong, or you'd like to make a request or suggestions for other features, you can message me, or use the links in the app to leave feedback or join the discord.
Thanks everyone, and I hope this is as useful to some of you as it's been for me!

(Mods, I hope this post is ok, I didn't see any rules against it but if it violates anything, please let me know, and thank you!)

I'm probably going to go ahead and put it on the iOS store as well in the next few days, but full credit to u/OGFurious who already has Cratelog out on the iOS store, so you should take a look at that and see if it meets your needs, if you're an iPhone user! His post is what inspired me to make mine available for android.

Do your worst

Two people live in this house, and these are about half of our bookshelves. Tastes overlap in some areas, diverge wildly in others. What can you tell about us?

Android app for tracking subscription boxes

Hello all! Mods, I hope this ok, please delete if not!

Last week, a redditor mentioned that he'd built an iOS app for his wife to track subscription boxes, skip deadlines, etc. I'd been making one for myself for Android, and he inspired me to get it to a place other people could use it as well.

It's a free app, it's called Stacked because why not; you can add your subs along with frequency, payment and skip deadlines, etc. It'll show you all your upcoming boxes and allow you to set notifications so you can be warned before a skip deadline. You can use the default statuses to mark if something is skipped or delivered (so you can see which boxes are overdue; we love you TBB but that has been happening a lot) and you can make custom statuses as well.

There's also a spending tab, which if you're like me, you might want to avoid altogether. It'll show past spending, and future projected spending, based on your skip statuses.

Lastly, it'll keep track of your skips for you. You can set in each sub what the skip policy is; unlimited, or 3 every 12 months, or 6 consecutive in a row, etc. And then on the skip tab it'll show you how many you have remaining, based on your skip status history.

It's up on Google Play right now but only available/visible to internal testers. If you'd like to be added to that, message me! I'll need to add your email address to the list and send you the link. (It requires that it's the same address that you use to log in to your device, so can't be a random throwaway, sorry. I promise I have zero intentions of selling email addresses!)

Please give me all your feedback on anything that doesn't work, could be better, or could be added. And I'll let you know once it's available for general download!

Dictionary art

These are not Matt's. I know these are not Matt's. (I wish I was so lucky.) But since we're all sharing our love of dictionary art... they're pretty cool. (These are in the bathroom and yes, the tub one is hanging over the clawfoot tub.)

General Use/Coding/Light gaming recommendations

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:

Up to $2500 USD

Are you open to refurbs/used?

Yes

How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

Performance, then battery life, then build quality then form factor.

How important is weight and thinness to you?

Medium priority. It would be nice not to put out my back carrying it, but I'll mostly be using it in place.

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A

16"-ish

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

Sometimes lightroom, but not heavy usage. For gaming it's mostly things like FFXIV.

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

FFXIV, at max settings. (their recommended system reqs are Intel Core i7-9700/AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT or higher, NVIDIA RTX 2060 or higher, memory of 16GB or higher). Occasionally Satisfactory.

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

Decent keyboard is a big plus but not a deal breaker.

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

I'd like an RTX 5070 Ti, 32GB of memory, No strong opinions on Intel vs AMD chip but strongly want a longer battery life, 6+ hours if I can get it. Those hours would be general use, not heavy gaming use. Would love to not need a cooling pad when it's in use, or sound like a spaceship trying to take off. (I don't care about the laptop putting off heat for my comfort, I just don't want to worry about overheating damaging the machine.) OLED screens are nice and pretty but I'm not stuck on them, so ambivalent about that. (Also I want to have the option to upgrade the RAM at some point if i want, so definitely don't want a system with the RAM soldered in place.)

Primarily I'll be using this to run things like Foundry, coding in VS Code etc, light photo editing with Lightroom, and gaming on FFXIV. Sometimes more graphics intensive games like Satisfactory, but that's not my primary thing. I really just want a laptop that'll do the things I really want to do and has a history of being reliable. I'm capable of doing basic repairs myself, replacing thermal paste, replacing cmos battery etc, but it'd be reaaaaally nice to have a system that is reliable enough that these kinds of things aren't needed frequently and won't crap out on me.

Thank you in advance!!

LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:

$2,000 max

Are you open to refurbs/used?

No

How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

All are important to me, but performance is highest priority, and build quality more so than battery.

How important is weight and thinness to you?

Mildly, I'd like to be able to take it traveling without breaking my back carrying it in the airport, but it'll mostly be sitting on my desk.

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

15 inch or bigger preferably, but flexible.

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

Primarily gaming, light photo editing (amateur, not professional) and use of Inkscape, GIMP, etc. Software dev functions like VS code, GitHub, etc.

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

Mostly FFXIV, want to run on highest settings

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

Large SSD and top performance and reliability, ability to hook up to external monitor if desired.

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

Used to have a Dell Alienware and it finally died, but I wasn't super impressed with it. Mostly I want to be able to play FFXIV, do my coding, maybe some GIS work, and regular daily usage. Do NOT need or want shiny "gamer" features like rainbow colored flashing lights, etc. Mostly want a high performance, reliable laptop that I can expect to last me for several years. I'm not playing super intense, resource hogging games (FFXIV hasn't been too stressful on my graphics card so far) so I don't need anything quite to that level.

Thank you!!!
