The old Odeon on union street may become a club/bar

I don't think I can link from Bristol evening post but they were mentioning that a local operator is looking to convert this into two nightclubs and a cinema screening room with a licence to 4a.m.

Sounds absolutely amazing if they can pull it off.

Carboplatin - paclitaxel hair loss. When did yours start to regrow?

I've just done round two of four on paclitaxel - carboplatin and even though I've had scalp cooling I would say I've lost about 30% of my hair after the first round already.

I'm assuming that I'll lose more again as I finish the course of infusions.

For those who've had the same chemo, how soon after you finished this treatment did you notice that the hair falling stopped, and that the regrowth started? Is there a pause between the loss and then regrowth coming later, or does the regrowth start fairly soon after the hair fall stops?

I'm trying to cheer myself up by reminding myself it's only temporary and it'd be nice to have an estimation of when I would notice the upturn.

I will have 5 weeks of daily radiation after this, but as it's only around my abdomen I'm assuming it won't affect the hair on my scalp. I'm not in the least bit worried about loss of body hair, in fact that can stay gone as long as it wants!!

Carnation: circus in St Paul's. Temperature in the tent?

I'd really really really like to go and see this, but I'm wondering how hot the tent is inside during the daytime performance? Has anyone been?

Their website gives no information as to whether they've got any kind of climate control inside the tent and there doesn't seem to be a contact us button either.

Are you staying at home or still going out and about during chemo?

I'm on day five of my first round of chemotherapy (paclitaxel and carboplatin) and now just starting to feel a bit more human again. I'm still in full-time employment and while my employer has been absolutely brilliant giving me the opportunity to work from home, I would still like to come to the office when I feel up to it.

The issue is I don't drive and it's about an hour and a half on two bus rides to get to the office. So we're talking 3 hours commuting everyday. Obviously I'm very immune compromised and I'm just wondering is this normal behaviour or should I really be thinking about staying at home?

Are you guys going out and about and mixing with the general public or staying in?

Just screaming into the void

I guess I have the honour of joining this club that no one wants to be a member of.

I'm in the UK and went to my GP at the end of November because of irregular bleeding between periods. I was 53 at the time. They were really great, did a smear test which came back negative and then sent me on for an ultrasound. That ultrasound in early December suggested I might have adenomyosis and I was asked to see a gynaecologist.

In early January, after some chasing from my GP, I got my appointment with the gynaecologist and she performed a biopsy and suggested I went next for a hysteroscopy to have a look at possible polyps and/or adenomyosis. This is where it all went wrong.

They lost the results of my biopsy!

At the end of March, I finally got an appointment for my hysteroscopy (which I'm horrified to think I nearly cancelled because at this point I had enough of being prodded and poked). Thankfully I did go, and at that point the doctor said she wasn't going to do the hysteroscopy because she had just that day found my biopsy results and in fact I have cancer.

You can imagine my shock.

Not to worry. They all told me, the biopsy shows it's a low-grade slow-growing cancer. They reassured me that during covid, when they couldn't do operations, they were simply fitting women with the Mirena coil "for years" and it was all okay.

I got my appointment for hysterectomy, which was planned for the 30th of April, but they were all quite comfortable that it would likely be brought forward as they as they agreed there had been a delay.

It was not brought forward. Not sure why but possibly doctor strikes may have had something to do with it. Or perhaps at some point they lost the notes that I was already 2 months delayed from receiving the biopsy results.

I had my full hysterectomy on 30th April and the results have come back last week as follows: Grade 3 endometrioid possibly de differentiated, MMR proficient, p53 mutant, ER/PR positive, no pole mutation. Grade 3, stage 3c1.

It was not, gentle reader, a "small and slow growing" tumour. It had completely filled my uterus, in fact, had started growing out of the uterus and had eaten 80% of the way through the uterine wall. They have detected cancer cells, but not tumour, on both lymph nodes.

I'm now looking at four rounds of chemotherapy: one round carboplatin/taxi every 3 weeks followed by 25 daily sessions of radiotherapy for 5 weeks.

What keeps going through my mind is whether I noticed any symptoms before last summer and why didn't I go to the GP sooner. I was still perimenopausal and it's quite hard to tell the difference between light irregular periods and heavy spotting.

I also can't help thinking that if they hadn't lost my biopsy results, I would probably have had my hysterectomy in February and perhaps the cells would not have begun spreading to my lymph nodes.

Kida Kyo perfumes?

For reasons that only the algorithm can explain, I'm being served advertising on my socials by Kida Kyo. The various scents look interesting and they claim to be Japanese but a quick search on this forum doesn't bring up anything.

Is anybody else familiar with them? Is it even a real brand and if so, would you describe them as quality?

I'm based in the UK if that makes any difference. I'm very tempted by their Discovery set and would love to hear back from anyone who is familiar with the perfumes. Thanks in advance

How is everybody recuperating post hysterectomy?

I'm now 10 days post-operative and carefully following instructions not to exercise, not to lift things etc and I'm really wondering how everyone else is filling their days?

Are you getting through your reading lists? Or binge watching shows and catching up on films you haven't seen yet?

I read three books, finished the second series of Fallout, and watched all currently available episodes of The Testaments. But I can't help wondering if there are better things I could be doing with my time? What is everyone else's day-to-day looking like?

I'm 4 days post operative for a full hysterectomy, done laparoscopically. Plus they gave a bonus little episiotomy to me as well. They've discharged me but not given me any kind of instructions other than to say move regularly but no real indication as to what that means.

Any ideas out there as to how soon I should start doing Kegels?

I'm in the UK if that makes any difference at all
