Song Discussion 30 - Love is Lonely

This is the last song on Fe3O4: Stick Out. They made a special video for it and it was also featured on their Tiny Desk performance.

The Snells in the 1980s

I've been listening to the 1980s episodes that are out there (google "luff archers"), and I'm partway through 1987. The Snells were introduced in September 1986 so at this point they've been around for 8 months or so and it's interesting to see how they were introduced to the show.

I don't know what the long term plans (if any) were for the characters, but their role in these early months is clueless rich townspeople who barge in to Ambridge with this notion that they "love the countryside" when they actually have no idea what's going on. Most of the storylines involving them either have them getting tricked or disgusted by something the farmers are doing, or annoying everyone by acting like they are the appointed guardians of the rural nature of Ambridge. I don't think anyone likes them at this point (especially Lynda).

Their first scenes had them walking around the farmlands on what were supposed to be public footpaths; apparently these were marked on some map but the farmers themselves either didn't know about them or didn't care. Eddie Grundy was just amused by them walking through the grange farm "footpath" but Brian screamed at them and threatened them when they were walking around Home Farm.

More than once they have been alarmed seeing animals that are "in distress" and tried to help (getting angry at the farmers in the process) when it turns out that the animals are fine. Lynda is on the warpath against Phil Archer because Phil has to sell part of his land to make money to pay the tax bill from his father's inheritance, and Lynda doesn't like it that he's selling it to developers who will build houses on the pristine countryside. She's now running for parish council which is annoying everyone even more.

She has just returned from a one week "farming course" and is now going around telling everyone about how much she's learned and how she's looking forward to assisting everyone and making sure everything is going OK on the farms around the town.

I guess at some point they move from this early role into the well liked residents, but it might be a while at this pace.

Song Discussion 27 - Red Light Sign, But We Go

This is the 3rd song on the Fe3O4: Stick Out album.

We'll try to do to posts a week from here on out.

Song Discussion 26 - SICKUHH

(Sorry for the delay between posts, as I said earlier the regular updates will return in August, the plan is to do them twice a week. This will probably be the last post until then)

The second track on Fe3O4: Stick Out is a collab with the rapper Kid Milli, so not surprisingly it is heavy on the rap. (Initially I forgot to say that this was the teaser pre-release for the album, which was a bold move on their part.)

Are the rules for emergency vehicles different here

I've lived in several states and I have never seen so much disregard for emergency vehicles with sirens as I have in Alabama. More than once I've seen ambulances have to stop and wait for cars before they can turn. Nobody pulls over to the side of the road. I learned in driver's ed that if there is an emergency vehicle with sirens, you should pull over to the side regardless of which way the vehicle is going.

Song 25 - See That

(I think the title is actually "See that?" with the question mark but it's too late to change it)

This is the title track for the second album in the Fe3O4 trilogy, Stick Out. Bae Jiwoo went on Lee Mujin to promote the release and showed off her impressive vocals!

The song has different titles in Korean and English; in Korean the title is "byeolbyeolbyeol" which I guess is the word "weirdo" three times?

The song had 3 wins on shows.

If there are any other important versions (other than Tiny Desk) let me know.

Song Discussion 24 - Feifei

This is NMIXX's other project between Fe3O4: Break and Stick Out. If my understanding is correct, this song started out as a 2012 Korean song called Back in time (시간을 거슬러) by the singer Lyn. This song was adapted to the Cantonese song Feifei ("Gossip"), by the singer Sita Chan, who died in a car accident the next year at the age of 26.

NMIXX then covered the Cantonese song in 2024. I didn't see much information on why they decided to do this cover -- someone on reddit said they had already performed it at a Hong Kong concert.

(The title is actually “蜚蜚 (FEIFEI)” on the video but I can't change the post title now)

In any case, there's just the MV, which is really just them singing in the studio:

Song Discussion 23 - Like Magic

I apologize, I meant to post this earlier in the week but completely forgot about it. I will try to remember to do Feifei on Tuesday, or maybe even earlier than that.

Anyway, this was a "collaboration" between Itzy (minus Lia), NMIXX, and Stray Kids (plus JYP himself) but it was really just an ad for a new coke product. Check out popcorn and zero coke?

I think that I will try to transition to a twice-a-week post, although I will be gone for some of July on vacation so the posts will be sporadic until August.

Aftereffects?

My colonoscopy went fine and there was nothing found so I don't have to do it again for 10 years.

I noticed last night I had some slight numbness or swelling in my face, particularly, around the mouth. It's still there now and it's been about 30 hours since the procedure. Has anyone else ever had this? Is this some possible lingering side effect of propofol?

Post-prep questions

I've finished my 74 oz of gatorade/miralax. I have two main questions now:

  1. The "output" is currently pale yellow, but there are some wispy things floating in it -- maybe these will go away with successive trips to the bathroom but if they are still there, is that a problem?

  2. When should I expect the "output" to end? I'd like to go to bed at some point, although I don't know if I need to worry about having an accident.

Song Discussion 22 - Break the Wall (plus a question)

The last song on Fe3O4: Break, appropriately enough.

Someone asked on the previous thread whether these should be done more frequently. Twice a week is fine with me, but I don't mind the once a week pace either. Let me know. (Next post will be mid-week regardless because it's a "side" song)

Anyone else prepping today?

I had my "light breakfast", next step is 4 dulcolax in about an hour and a half.

EDIT 1: The beef bone broth I got is horrible, trying chicken broth instead......it's a bit watery and doesn't have a whole lot of flavor but it's better than the beef.

Single vs dual prep?

My doctor's instructions tell me to take 4 dulcolax tablets at 12 pm and then the entire 64 oz of miralax/gatorade between 5-7 pm, with nothing after that.

A lot of other prep instructions I've seen here and on youtube have a split preparation, where you drink more either during the night or the morning of the procedure.

I guess my doctor wouldn't prescribe this method if it didn't work, but it does seem like the double would work better.

I guess I don't have a question, but it is strange to me that there's so much variation in how the prep goes.

Song Discussion 20 - Passionfruit

Song 5 on Fe3O4: Break. I don't think they did this on the recent world tour -- I found a few live videos from a different tour but the audio quality wasn't great.

Prep questions

I'm curious about a few prep-related things.

First, I'm doing the dulcolax/miralax one. The instructions have me drink the entire thing in a 2 hour period in late afternoon. Some of the things I've seen online have you drink some the night before and some the morning of, but I think this might be a different prep material? The videos tell you to make sure to take the morning prep stuff so that you can clean out the additional waste that got created during the night, but maybe that's not an issue with the miralax.

Second, "clear" liquid is a bit confusing because multiple sources I've seen say that you should be able to see the bottom of the cup/bowl or newsprint through the glass, but then the same sources say you can have coffee or beef broth, neither of which seem to qualify there.

Finally, my sheet says I can't drink anything after midnight which sounds like torture but other prep instructions i've seen online say you can drink up to 4 hours before the procedure. I guess I should follow my own doctor's specifications....
