Hypothetical scenario: if Jesus appeared to someone in the form of an appirition and that person admits his sins will the sacrament of reconciliation occur?
Since Jesus is the source of the sacriment of penance
I tried asking this on r/askapriest yet Im apparently not allowed to "ask theological questions"
Not technically a rosary(prayer rope/chokti) but I'm still proud to share :)
Made my first rosary I need some tips
how do you control the gaps between the beads and barrel knot
How do you make this look more even? As you can see everything was not centered
Why do scientologist call themselves "churches" despite not being affiliated with Christianity
Like seriously no Messiah, no gospel or any scripture that's related to the bible, no afterlife not even a God technically
Anyone know where to get a sacred heart based cruxifix?
reddit.comDo priests prepare their homily speech/sermon before the start of the mass of do you just wing it?
reddit.comDo eastern catholics prefer the rosary or the prayer rope?
What are your thoughts?
Where did the first 5 beads of the rosary come from?
As we know the rosary's evolution mostly comes from the prayer rope, a popular story is that saint dominic reveive the rosary itself from the blessed virgin although I dont believe in the story itself because 1. St dominic de guzman never had a written account tied to it and 2. We dont have such relic today
Historians bleived the rosary came from the prayer rope meditating on all 150 psalms which then turned into 150 our fathers which then turned into 150 hail mary's(or jesus prayers if you're from the east)
Eventually these prayer ropes turned into wooden beads and were shortened but somewhere around this time a 5 bead introductory was introduced out of nowhere and thats what im curious about, where did that come from?
Shortly after this the joyful, sorrowful and glorius mysteries were added overtime and pope john paul II added the luminous mysteries
This could just be me but I want an animated jjk battle between St. Ignatius of Loyola and martin luther so badly🙏
And I'm not talking about a Theological debate, I mean a litteral hand to hand combat or jiujitsu
Catholic to low church/evangelical converts, what makes you say we worship saints?
Today at my parish during the priests homily was the feast day of st Isidore (the patron of manual labor) and at the near end of the liturgy the priest says somewhere along the lines of this
>And remember brothers and sisters we do not worship saints, only the Lord is worthy of worship, saint Isadore is just another saint in whom God and the church uplifted to remind us of the great things our God can do
I always hear the objection that all we do as catholics is worship saints yet even at our own liturgies we clarify to the lay people that worship towards saints is one of the worst things a person can do
I just got this temporary tattoo at my school event, what do you think?
Did I cook🙌
Ps:Sorry for the low effort, I made this while sleep deprived
I asked chatgpt to roast me with everything it knows about me... Feel free to question 💔🥀
I might be exposing myself too much(btw I'm not 15, chat gpt has my age outdated)
The Catholic church generally assigns a patron for almost anything, would there be a patron saint of saints? I've thought of 4 possible candidates
Jesus Christ, pretty straight forward saints intercede on our behalf to Christ, but would Jesus even count as a saint? Although with him being God and all it's hard to say
The blessed virgin Mary, queen of heaven and queen of all saints, mother of God theotokos, 2nd eve, 2nd Zion, 2 ark and the terror of deamons she's generally seen as the queen of saints considering most saint chaplets are based around the hail Mary prayer and is full of grace
St dismus or the penitant theif, considered to be the only confirmed saint we know of who entered heaven and likely was first to enter paradise as the Lord said in Luke 23:43
St Abel son of Adam, since Abel was the first confirmed death we received in the scriptures he's also likely to be first in line to paradise the same as dismus although idk if first = patron saint of saints
It's either I save up for an Ignatius study bible, read confessions by St agustine, read summa theological by St Thomas Aquinas, read the dark night by St John of the cross or read the catechisms
I can't seem to decide between these 5
