That story might take longer, but I still want to deliver some goods.

So, my wife’s grandmother saved some purchase requests from her time working in procurement at NASA.

I’m about to present my findings at UT in a few weeks and will be my first time sharing the details publicly. I’m a non-traditional community college student and I turned the documents we inherited into a relative thing.

I got funding from my CC and another institution to travel and do primary source research in D.C.

Aside from a memo existing somewhere I haven’t looked saying otherwise, my research strongly indicates a specific manufacturer, I would say to a 99.9% assurance. Same for 12. Maaaaaaybe 17.

Also the surviving earth bound flags and that one sent around the moon by Artemis II.

I’m writing an article for publication in a peer review journal, I’ve got about two weeks of writing left going at a 500-600 word a day limit.

A set of the purchase requests saved by wife’s grandmother. We inherited four sets of the documents on NCR originals. We donated a set to a certain institution in DC and they were quickly accessioned.

Most research in the area is situated at a high level or technical, I’ve been getting into the nitty gritty. Not only with the documents in my possession, but also with some things I found in the archives.

Like NASA actively pulling a Gandalf at MSC, you know, *keep it secret; keep it safe*

I’m gonna edit out some info but I’ll attach something I guarantee you haven’t ever seen before related to Apollo. Even the experts believed them to be destroyed. All it took was one woman with the foresight to save them in a box for nearly six decades.

TLDR: I’ve done the research and I’m gonna tell every little detail soon.

On the story front, media moves as fast as urgency. This is a relatively evergreen topic, so the urgency for it to be a priority ahead of more urgent news isn’t there yet.

But until then, I’m sorry for delaying so long. Ad astra!

Gen. Phillips’ handwritten accounting of planned Apollo flights - circa 1969

Something I thought was interesting that I found in his papers.

Advice Sought - Finding Surrogates

Hello, hope this is allowed, I believe it is from my reading.

I’m a non-trad community college student researching the Apollo program founded on primary source documents that have been wildly believed to have long since been destroyed.

I’ve exhausted every available resource, I’ve asked the archivists at RPI if they had any idea of potential surrogate researchers that can help me with pulls and scans of the George Low Papers. Unlike places such as the Nixon Library (shout out to my surrogate there, Jake), they don’t have information of that type or track who would do that.

I’ve gotten funding, but that was for my travel to D.C.. I secured a bit more funding to get surrogates, but I don’t have the ability to travel to RPI.

Would any of you wonderful archivists know of anyone in the greater Troy, NY area that would be available?

I’ve searched but I have not been able to find anyone myself, aside from genealogical research.

Any help or direction would be appreciated!

Surrogate Archival Research?

Hello!

I’m a student in Texas who is conducting research into a very specific moment in NASA’s history and George Low’s papers might hold some final pieces.

My problem? I can’t travel to RPI!

I know those files will be the goldmine. I’m looking for correspondence, rather than the straight technical and engineering aspects of Low’s role at MSC in 1969.

Is there anyone that knows where I could find a surrogate researcher who would pull and digitize relevant items for me?

I’ll do the locating of the boxes, give you a rundown of the research and what I’m looking for.

Also, the individual would clearly be compensated for their time.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
