My eyes are so pleased right now. Now im lamenting the fact I'll never have a drama with them as leads 💔

Y'all! This one was so good.

I ignored my 987890 open tabs and clicked on a random suggested video. This had me sitting up and paying attention within the first minute and a half because everything happening was unexpected.

The plot summary from duanju:

Gu Xiaoye unexpectedly transmigrates into the body of the true heiress of the Gu family. To escape her fate as a villainous supporting character, she decides to defy destiny. She wholeheartedly befriends the female lead, but becomes entangled with the male lead and the second male lead, deeply caught in family conspiracies and romantic choices.

The writing and acting:

The story is really fresh and packs a punch. It takes so many twists and turns, there's not a single boring moment. This one actually genuinely has good writing and story telling. I thought it was going to be another cute lil changing the villain's fate story, but things got wild. And let me tell you, 2nd FL was acting doooooooooooooown in the final act. The side characters are also all pretty robust ad fleshed out. I felt like p. much everyone acted quite naturally as well. I was fully immersed.

The "Villains":

FL is a cute and spirited playgirl. The way she lives her life for herself is so endearing. She's a modern woman in the Republican era and brings those modern ideals with her. ML is also surprisingly charming. I'd only ever seen him in jerk roles before this so color me surprised that he had me giggling. He is still a bit of an unhinged villain, but their chemistry was so good omg. I need more of them together. They just go really well together.

The "Good Guys":

2nd FL is a gentle lady who had her entire world turned upside down seemingly overnight when Fl returned as the true daughter. She follows the status quo and hopes for the best. She is a bit idealistic and truly believes in her love with 2ML. 2nd ML meanwhile, moves with the arrogance of a man who grew up with looks, power, and privilege. He is a Marshal who can have any woman he wants. Despite his seeming power, he is actually spineless. The true driving force behind his power also ends up being his downfall.

The Ending:

Dramatic, climatic, worth the fact I'm typing this up at 2:30am. As for what I'd consider the epilogue, I actually wasn't mad at it. I usually would get pisse doff at an ending like that, but yk what. I'll allow it.

My only gripe:

There was one minor plot hole that might have just been lost in translation.

if you need warnings, there is one to take note of: >!attempted sexual assault occurs more than once and it is pretty rough. Definitely not treated or portrayed lightly!<

Just finished this and it was hilarious. A classic, over the top abuse story with zero logic. I was cracking up the whole time. Not because it was intentionally funny, but because it was so ridiculous.

FL transmigrates into a novel and is forced to follow the abuse plot. She tries to defy the plot and system by getting with the villain instead, but the system forces her to act out abuse points with original ML who is blinded by the green tea white moonlight. You then get hilarious sequences where she >!gets stabbed, hit by a car, runs out to do deliveries, and get pushed into a pool (that's like 5ft deep) when she ofc can't swim!< all within like 10 minutes. This one hits all of the classic abuse tropes. Like I'm not kidding, they were cramming them in until the very end 😂

Another great one from my #1 fave manipulative man-eater and a beautiful man. Not doing a review because I don't have too much to say about this. Grand princess vs crown prince plus the general caught between them. Solid story about love, hate, and revenge. Definitely worth your time.

I can't find the info on the other two actors, but 2FL was sooo cute with a gummy smile.

I meant to start something else, but started watching this last night because the filming style drew me in. It was done in a style that I haven't seen before. It kind of gave the feeling of a college project, but not in a bad way. I found the drama quite fresh and fun. Apparently it is Taiwanese? Maybe that's why it had a different feeling.

The story follows two friends who swap lives using an antique mirror.You have broke ass, doormat Lin Zhao Tang (35) who is married to a fitness influencer. Her life appears fulfilling from the outside, but is it really? Then there's wealthy, naive, and abs obsessed Xu Xiao Qin (26) who is in a loveless relationship arranged by her parents. She finds her boyfriend cold and controlling. Xu Xiao Qin ends up using a mirror to swap their lives. Throughout the course of the story they deal with family issues, pregnancy concerns, love, greed, etc. I was wondering how they'd tie everything up at the end and I think it was done nicely.

Both actresses did an awesome job of showing the different personalities in each body. I also loved their friendship. Neither is normal. Everything is treated so matter of fact?? Even the origins of the mirror are never revealed.

I definitely recommend this drama. It was certainly a ride! Just leave logic at the door and just enjoy the experience. This is a romantic comedy about real life issues with a comedic twist.

If you don't know, Jin Xuan Yu did a drama in which he's a general opposite a Thai actress. There's apparently time travel or something? idk tbh I haven't watched it yet. I have an IQIYI sub, but somehow I rarely reach for it. I'll make it my Monday office watch.

Anyway, the main thing is that since then, he's been doing some promotional activities in Thailand.

Why I'm making this post:

I was watching his Thailand Vlog and wanted to share some observations.

1. The way he struggles to eat mango sticky rice with a fork and spoon is hilarious.
2. He seems to be doing decently well? He uses designer items (branded t-shirts are low hanging fruit but hey) and the hotel he stayed (Avani Sukhumvit at was a 5-star. Though definitely on the lower end of the 5-star scale, but it wasn't some sketchy motel or something.
3. My biggest take away is an observation in fan culture. I don't know if it's because I'm used to idol fan culture, but I was surprised that the fans were dressed quite casually. I'm used fans dressing to the nines. IDK if it's because they had to sit on the ground, or if that's just the speed for short drama actors.
4. Pretty privilege is so real. I was cracking up at the stall owners letting him make his own food
5. Finally, for all you boyfriend fans out there: he will not be winning you any stuffed animals from the claw machine.

Y'all I am not have good luck with dramas. I am irritated! I fully spoil these three dramas so be aware before reading this rant.

Starting with the new Mi Qi:

FL commits suicide in her previous life after her general fiance dies in battle. She sticks around as a ghost for 10 years and learns he never died, he just wanted to be with her cousin (who ofc stole FL's jade bracelet so he mistook her for the one who saved him). Fiance, cousin, and FL's biased towards the cousin family all prosper while forgetting about her/essentially pissing on her grave. Reborn, she changes her fate and outmaneuvers her opps.

All of that is fine. What pisses me off is that she marries the crown prince and they agree that it will be in name only. Fine! She's been burned and hurt before, whatever. If it had just ended at the point where the ex-fiance and his crew had been defeated and FL and the crown prince marry with no concrete resolution to their love line, then cool. People could fill in the blanks and imagine that in the future he wins her over yadda yadda, but no.

Flash forward like 5 years and crown prince has remained devoted. He's kept the harem empty for 3 years and she still is like nah I want my freedom. Okay FINE but what really, really, really got me was when she says, "[No matter how good the emperor is, he's but one man. Why give up the whole forest for him? I have wealth and power. I can have any man I want.]" Cue staring up at the sky. Pan frame. End.

You have to be kidding me!!! It's not like the emperor was some shitty ex or ever wronged her. He was even the one who fed power into her hands. I know a common theme in these dramas is that men are not shit. They will pursue you and then once they have you they won't cherish what they have. But excuse me? Girl! What other men are you trying to find?? Is the goal not to have someone who loves and cherishes you? If she hadn't said that line then you could say that she just was done with men completely and wanted only freedom. It'd be like okay bad ending but sure. Or if it had been some commentary about not wanting to spend her life in the palace? IDK but I'm mad!

FL was crippled 5 years ago by her scheming fiance and now uses a wheelchair. After catching her fiance cheating in their soon to be marital bed, she jumps from the balcony and rolls in the rain in front of ML's car. ML picks her up and takes her to a temple. She proceeds to crawl up the steps and roll down them. He picks her up at the bottom of the stairs because apparently she's his destined one. Something about him needing to sleep with her to exchange her life for his because he's coughing up blood.

They get married, and while visiting her parents graves, ML leaves her at her request (but he fully drove away for no reason like damn what if she only wanted 15 min alone?). The shitty ex-fiance comes along and beats her up before taking her back to the house she jumped from. They stand outside for several minutes listening to the mom bad mouth her to the neighbors. When she starts yelling about it not being true, the mom threatens her with a keepsake from her parents. They then take her inside, smash the figurine, and try to make her sign the house over. Don't forget the strangulation for good measure! ML ofc comes and saves her. They start to get intimate and he presses on her bruise and shes like hehe it's ok and he's like I'm not into that.

At the point that she quietly went with the abusive ex and his mother over a figurine keepsake I disengaged and started skimming through. Maybe this is some deep love story and I didn't stick it out faithfully enough, but 40 or so minutes of my life were spent on this pathetic ass drama.

Continuing on, next thing you know ML is trying to divorce her and she runs away for 3 years. Suddenly she's blind, but can walk again, and is engaged to a third man. Surprise, surprise he's a scummy cheater who takes the side of some dress shop employee trying to humiliate FL. Don't worry though, ML and FL reunite and ML falls into a coma before waking up with his destiny broken. He promises he only wanted to divorce to avoid killing her. kiss kiss bang bang, happily ever after. For whom you ask? Certainly not I, the viewer who wasted precious minutes of my Saturday. Is this karma for flaking on my friends to stay at home like a slug? I suppose so.

Basically FL's husband is sending her abroad to have their baby so that he can hold a televised wedding with his mistress who is also her best friend??? Make it make sense. FL's revenge was actually really quick which is rare. She didn't stick around to be abused. She hallowed out the company, took what assets she could, snitched to the investor of a major project about embezzled funds, and dipped abroad. There was also no new ML found abroad. Cool.

Now the crime:

She returns to China 5 years later? 3 years later? The drama or subs can't remember which. She proceeds to entertain the ex-husband's sheer audacity. She lets her son get kidnapped by the ex through negligence. Which as the richest lady in the city and a wall street powerhouse you should be guarding against kidnappers to begin with? She lets the ex steal a (planted) document. She even lets him crash her press conference. Way to make YOUR new project drama filled and stupid as a gotcha to the ex. Very professional. Then magically, the son isn't the ex-husband's because he made her take birth control and also drink too much and so she secretly got IVF. huh?

Making my way through Jin Xuan Yu's filmography this week and veered into social media. This video especially cracked me up. He's so cute!

I love when he does more mischievous characters so it's fun seeing that playfulness on social media as well.

The actual clown get up in this ad where the man fakes poverty to the FL has me cracking up. A little on the nose dont you think?

Just finished watching this and it was pretty good! The focus is not on romance but rather on power. The ending is also quite satisfying.

FL is brought in as a consort to bear an heir because the crown princess refuses to have a child before 25. FL is smart, ruthless, and patient. She knows that love is not sustainable and only a child will bring her real stability. This isn't an overpowered type of drama though since she has her own gains and losses in her struggles for power.

The crown princess is ruthless, arrogant, and controlling. She represents a differing viewpoint from the FL that's too ahead of her time. She's not a good person though so you end up not feeling bad for her.

Meanwhile, ML is fickle and spineless. IMO even without the crown princess' refusal to have a child, they wouldn't have had a good end. ML was never going to maintain the "one love, one life" he promised. I think deep down the crown princess knew that too. This was also my first time seeing Wang Yu Sheng in a main role and not as the 2ml or 3rd brother or whatever. Of course he's still playing a scum though 😂

I just want to highlight Tia Jiu Luo!

From turning a group of men into good dogs, to taming a hostage prince hellbent on revenge, to even making a proud man move like a mistress. She is magnetic! Sure, some of the dramas suffer from costume bloopers (why is ML's wig glued so far down his cheek?), but all of that fades into the background of her electrifying seduction and chemistry with her co-stars.

In the beginning, I didn't really pay attention to her. Her acting was great, but she didn't have the type of face that would instantly draw me in and make me obsessed.

First came My Feisty Princess Loves the Rake. Li Shi Yao's always a fun time in a costume drama so I enjoyed it well enough, but I kept it moving.

In I Chose Beauty in My Second Life, I observed her select beauty over fertility and dress up like a fox to seduce the emperor. I may or may not have drooled, but it was still just another stone tossed into the ocean of vertical dramas I rapidly consume.

Then My Princess. Seeing her twist those men around her fingers, I was struck by lightning. Training them like dogs to accept whatever she is willing to give? The only type of harem I want to see. I bookmarked the drama, but I still didn't have an urge to desperately comb through her filmography yet.

Then came Entering The Tent Without Lowering One's Head, and I am in love! The opening scene of her toying with the doe-eyed ML? The kisses? Be still my beating heart!

I ran to her meager MDL and started My Whole Family Has Been Reborn. Yet another man obsessed with her and I'm right there with him! Move out of my way and let me be her mistress.

Something about these men falling madly in love while she shrugs her shoulders like ig you can stay is what did it for me.

Have you ever stared at something red for so long that your brain turned it green? Do you love a dark comedy? That's Moonlight Over The River | 月落江野.

If you enjoy overbearing, yandere CEOs presented in a light-hearted and fun way then this is for you. It is toxic and over the top, and ML absolutely weaves a cage to trap FL, but they are both right where they want to be. FL is super cute and a bit naive/easily decieved while ML pretends to be a weak, good boy while manipulating behind the scenes. He will lie, twist things, and hurt others behind her back, but he genuinely loves and cares for her. He has the sound logic only a classic yandere can manage that has you nodding along to his POV.

Just finished watching this after it was recommended in another thread. It was so enjoyable! I laughed and smiled a lot. FL is transmigrated as the evil wife of a villainous, disabled, fugitive, ex-general. Throughout the story she collects "friends" who are also not good people lmao. you really are on the side of the bad guys in this one. ML is really crazy and yandere, but it's actually super sweet because he >!thinks she's a fairy sent from heaven!<. I'm so sad it's over. I really need a season 2.
