I am an Indian wanting to learn swahili. I know the very basics (na, li, ta, days of the week, few verbs, counting etc).
I am not looking for a swahili tutor, I am looking for someone who wants to acquire another language. We act as tutors as well as accountability partners for each other. Neither of us pays the other anything. Just a skill exchange. I can also teach advanced English if someone wants to but I am not sure of how they will teach swahili if they don't know English well.
If you want to pick up another language while helping me do the same with yours, DMs are open.
P.S. - why is electricity down? looks like it is in a large part of the city, is it some major maintenance or what?
So I just reached Tz couple of days ago.
Do you guys drink tap water directly? Is it safe ? As in, are the pipelines through which it reaches homes and the tanks in buildings that store it maintained at a drinking water level of cleanliness?

If not, what are the other options apart from buying bottled water?

I have been watching Table of Wisdom since quite sometime. It's a podcast (but wait, not the regular pretentious people faking things to sound like an authority).

There's a clear difference between podcasts which are made for self glazing and the ones made to extract and share insights from people who have truly done something in their field. ToW is exceptionally different and good in this.
All well and good but he drops this episode which I downloaded to watch during a planned travel. This gave me CHIILLS. I never watched the speaker's actual vlogs but he said all my vlogs are uncut. So it's very clear that he is not faking anything. I have heard there are some ghost hunting vloggers who go in groups, and someone hides behind the door to shut it etc so that they can get views. but this guy goes alone and uploads uncut videos.

I have read and watched several hours of scholars' videos on what Jinns are, what they do, what they can't etc. and what he describes is mostly right and in confirmation with what hadith and scholars say about Jinns. He did also mention one thing which I am not sure is right.

I am sure this will make a lot people regular in reading morning and evening azkar.

If you guys want to know more about protection, later Ill also post about the short books you can read or the azkar.

Don't watch late at night. Do you azkar regularly. Assalamualaikum.
Ye kaisi demands hai bhai ladkiyo ki,
6ft, atleast 1 lakh pm, caring, gym goer, deendar. Yahan tak to thoda realistic tha theek hai, lekin ye kya baat hui ke sar pe baal bhi chahiye? Aaj ki date me? Aadmiyo ke sar pe baal tab hote the jab aurte patthar pe haatho se kapde dhoti thi. Gaya wo zamana. Bhool jao.
Ladies ab aap ko vin diesel, the rock, ya chota fanta me se hi kuch choose karna padega.
Aur agar aaj bhi kisi 35 saal ke aadmi ke sar pe poore baal hon, fir to wo pakka doosra nikah bhi karega, dekh lo ab. Mera kaam tha aap ko batana, aage aap ki marzi 🤧
Why are posts clearly having a flair of 'meme' being taken down? Racism, misogyny bla bla. There's a clear difference between a light hearted joke that talks about genders and one that is truly inappropriate but dressed up as a joke. (The post that you took down, if at all, it was self depreciating humour - a man making fun of men, not women)
It becomes frustrating when the slightest deviation gets your post taken down.
It looks like the entire purpose of this sub is -
rants - meri shadi nahi ho rahi, m community me koi kuch change kyun nahi lata bla bla [ when you post something serious about the change, these guys are nowhere to be seen, they don't want to to put in the hardwork that change requires]
political news - lynched here, killed there. Sure, we need to know that but just reading that all day takes a big toll on mental health of everyone.
I never see anything different here.
Fed up honestly.
This is the only sub I open reddit for, all others are spammed by bhajpa it cell employees.
Might leave this platform altogether. (Gpt anyway pulls reviews from here about anything when needed).

Guys, serious post!
I am an expert (top 0.3% ile in CAT, 100% marks in another test, various other achievements alhamdulillah) in verbal reasoning which is tested on most aptitude tests. Although many exams have this section but SSC CGL etc have a very low level of difficulty, so it's not a problem for most people.
It levels up when you want to pursue a tier 1 MBA, or study abroad (MS, PhD, MBA etc). Also, most Indians score well on the quant (math) part but struggle with verbal, if you do this well, you can actually land massive amounts of scholarships in reputed universities around the world.
Although I have taught these for 2 years in a reputed institute, I left the job to pursue a very different business. I do freelance on the side whenever possible without pursuing it seriously, I just teach whoever approached me directly or is referred to me by someone.
Looking at the situation where so many of Indian Muslims are badly trying to move abroad or level up their career and don't find a guide, I am thinking of starting an online, low cost coaching for these tests.
There will be two options to pay -
If you are doing well, and can afford to pay for my expertise, you pay me immediately but I'll charge a little less than what the market rates are.
The other is, if you are unable to afford, you pay a nominal fee (for commitment) and promise to pay later whenever you can afford maybe after you actually do your masters and land a good job. The timeline isn't really important just a commitment to pay is. My intention is to help (while also getting making enough to survive).
Or we could also figure out some other methods like a sliding method which psychologists use.
But all that's for later.
Right now, I want suggestions -
if you are even interested in this.. because it will only happen if I have a batch big enough to be worth the time and effort (atleast 50 people across the exams)
if yes, what are your suggestions about it (timings, payment etc)
Kindly share this with your friends and family if it's not relevant for you, how the conversation on this post goes can have a butterfly effect and change many things for the better InshaAllah.
Eid Mubarak btw. Take your time and respond after you are done with the biryani.
As I posted here a few days ago, I am in Kenya currently.
I am a very level headed guy. I have lived away from home town for 2 years and that doesn't really affect me but for the first time I celebrated Eid today away from home.
Woke up with an alarm, prayed fajr, got ready, walked to the nearby mosque.
A uncle who is a relative of a friend invited me. Helped him with the process that goes after prayer. Then went to a mall, roamed around aimlessly.
People were coming with their families, taking pictures and having a jolly time.
Then went to the uncle's house again for lunch . Had great food alhamdulillah but food is not even something I missed.
I missed my dad's getting ready and asking everyone to hurry up (or leaving by himself lol 😆)
I missed coming back to home and hugging my mom
I missed bringing toys for my nieces.
I missed going around to poor localities with friends to distribute meat.
I watched the Shan Masala's Eid away from home ad on yt and cried like anything.
It just makes me wonder, are we too soft or were earlier people too strong. How did they travel to faraway lands when travel usually meant getting looted, or killed, or you could just get lost in the desert and die.
Assalamualaikum everyone,
I am central Indian Muslim, currently in Nairobi and looking to meet someone who's here for local guidance and help (just advice, I don't need any financial help alhamdulillah) .
Just trying my luck with this post.
Don't want to share a lot of information publicly but if you are an Indian, in Nairobi or even Mombasa (planning to come there after Eid) Please send me a salaam. I am here for maybe a month more or two.
P.S. - if you don't live here but have relatives/friends living here, please connect me with them.
