No Criminal Charges against Garbage Truck Driver

Per IONTB: UPDATE: The Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney’s Office has filed a “No Information” notice in the case against Nathan Brown, the City of St. Petersburg sanitation worker who was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death after a woman was struck and killed in an alley near downtown St. Petersburg on May 30.

According to the filing dated June 5, prosecutors concluded that the facts and circumstances developed during their investigation “do not warrant prosecution at this time.”

Brown had been accused of leaving the scene after a city garbage truck struck 49-year-old Candice Roberts while she was lying in the alley. The case drew significant attention after court documents alleged a bystander had warned the driver that people were sleeping in the area before he backed the truck down the alley.

The State Attorney’s Office decision means no criminal prosecution will move forward at this time.
