in countries like ours especially, why don’t people realise choices influenced by patriarchy are not free choices?

i see so many people saying that if she chose a trad wife lifestyle, chose a hijab, a ghunghat, chose to sell her body, it’s her choice and we as feminists should support that.

and to that i say, you don’t know what feminism is.

it’s about liberation from the patriarchal mindset.

using your body for money (like OF, or insta exclusive content or wtv) is not a “boss queen” move. you are giving in to society viewing women as objects and i don’t care if you think you made that choice willingly, you were influenced by patriarchy.

furthermore, the hijab. i dislike so many practices of this religion because it is so clearly a mad attempt at controlling women which works everytime somehow and is not even questioned for the fear of being cancelled.
to be clear, im not a blind hater. i dislike most religions for their anti women propaganda.

the hijab is one of the ugliest forms of this. what is so inherently immodest about a woman’s hair or face that it needs to be covered? the hijab reeks of misogyny. my hair and my face needn’t be covered for any god to accept me. most of girls who willingly wear a hijab are brainwashed by their society into thinking it’s empowering if it’s their “personal choice”.

anyways, with the rising “it’s her choice” narrative in india, just wanted to point out, “exclusive content” and hijab (the ghunghat too but don’t see that much outside of villages) are not empowering. they are not feminist. rid your mindset of choice feminism before you are convinced that choosing to be dependent on a man is empowering if it’s “your” choice.
