Laird and Hannah
Hannah saying “I’m feeling just a little bit frail. Haven’t been eating that much, so I don’t know if I look, like, scary thin or anything.” And Laird responding with “Nope. You look like your voluptuous self to me.” HAS ME CRYING

I preferred any of the other girls at first, but by the end of the show, I loved Hannah. Shosh becomes the people she hangs out with, Jessa is just absolutely chaotic (which I love at times), Marnie is a crybaby who needs to touch grass. But Hannah is so real, maybe it’s because I have OCD and all of the things that she struggles with. Hannah has no idea what she’s doing next, but she just goes with it.
“It’s too hard to describe this in a way that feels honest”
Am I stupid? I can’t figure out what she means!
I hate that Shosh is so embarrassed about being a virgin at 21. She’s surrounded by post-grads with interesting sex lives and, in my opinion, feels so pressured to please them. I just wish I could give S1 Shosh a hug and tell her that she doesn’t need to live up to anyone’s expectations or standards.
I watched the entire series for the first time 5 years ago. I’m in the middle of my 4th rewatch. Jess knew, the entire time, that Rory was dating Dean. He didn’t care. He continued to toy with Rory and pulled the “I’m so misunderstood and read a lot” boy so many times. I think he is a good guy and matured in YITL, but pining for Rory is his own mistake.
In my mind, it didn’t work out and she ended up with Ray. Pls lmk your thoughts!
I’ve been a fan of Olivia since the first episode of HSMTMTS. Out Of The Old and Wondering are still on repeat lol. Obviously SOUR was a major part of her success. GUTS introduced a lot more concepts and established her role as a solid performer and artist. Girl So In Love is simply the best we’ve heard from her. She is so introspective on this album. 5 years have passed since SOUR, but she’s still catching the attention of everyone. GSIL has the sound, production, and vocals that no other album had. I’ve been in awe since the album came out!
Less is a sad song that introduces a different and, in my opinion, more tragic perspective about heartbreak. SOUR and GUTS were predominantly about not being loved as much. Less discusses the experience of wishing someone didn’t love you as much as they do because the heartbreak is too much to handle. It’s almost like Olivia would rather not mean as much to this person as she does, if it means not having her heart broken in the way it is. Nobody WANTS to be loved less by their S/O, but when leaving feels like the end of the world, being loved less feels like a better alternative.
I’ve seen so many people hate on this song because of the way Olivia’s voice sounds. I think this song is amazing, Olivia’s voice sounds so good with Robert Smith’s. I didn’t watch her Primavera Sound performance because I wanted to wait until the album dropped, but this song is amazing. I’ve also seen a lot of people think that it’s a repetitive song, but I disagree. She’s explaining all of these symptoms that could be related to Depression, Anxiety, etc. but her doctor told her she’s fine. Her relationship is quite literally what’s wrong with her. I love this concept, the lyrics, the melody, everything. I also love Robert Smith, so that was a huge plus!
When I first saw the track list, I immediately thought purple would be a direct reference to SOUR and GUTS. Both albums, especially SOUR, are predominantly sad albums with a purple cover. I was expecting her to refer back to those albums and explain maybe the reason why GSIL isn’t purple, because she’s in love and her writing in the first half reflects that and how it feels. I’m still really happy with the song though, especially hearing the inspiration behind the song and the love letter she was given!
This song is absolutely amazing. The feeling of being in love but your S/O is on a trip/gone/maybe just going to the gym but you hate being without them. I love that Olivia could articulate this so perfectly.
I love expectations, it’s one of my favorite songs on the album. However, it doesn’t seem to fit in with the second half of the album. We were made to think that the second half would be sad and include heartbreak, but this song is almost like she’s moving on? Right before Cigarette Smoke just caught me off guard!
