Today’s Watch

The watch: Casio MRW200H-7BV

The backstory: When my original MRW200H-1BV (which became my knock-around watch) wound up with a broken strap and a dead battery, I decided to buy this one; it was similar enough, with the dial being white instead of black.

I eventually invested in a watch repair kit, batteries, and a replacement strap for the original, so now I have two solid watches that serve the “knock-around” purpose, though I’ve recently come to appreciate how gorgeous they are when they’re clean and polished, so I may have to find a replacement watch for that category!

Why I like it: As with the version initially replaced, this watch is a tank; it’s been through the works and keeps going (this one is also on strap #2)! It’s comfortable and does what it was meant to do, and as a native Spanish speaker, I love that option for the day window!

Today’s Watch

The watch: Casio AW-81 Telememo 30

The backstory: I bought this one at a close friend’s estate sale. It had a price tag of only $8 USD and needed some links removed and a battery replacement (something I was able to do by myself). When I showed said friend (she wasn’t at the sale), she beamed and told me it was her dad’s go-to watch (he passed away several years ago), and that she was beyond happy to know it wound up with somebody who appreciates it and that she’s still able to admire it.

It has since become my “driving watch”; the one I wear when my day involves a significant amount of travel/driving. And of course, I make sure to wear it around said friend as often as possible!

Why I like it: It has a great retro vibe! I love the fact that the digital window can display the day/date (my default), as well as the DST option. The stopwatch, timer, and World Time are also super helpful! The display illumination is pretty unique as well! And honestly, the fact that it was part of a friend’s life is also well worthwhile!

Today’s Watch

The watch: Casio MRW200H-7BV

The backstory: I bought this one when my original MRW200H-1BV battery had died and I didn’t want to pay to have the battery replaced. Because the watch replacement price and battery replacement price were damn near the same!

Why I like it: I liked that it was the same watch, but with a different color dial. It’s since become one of my two favorite “beater” watches. Neither of which show signs of letting up anytime soon!

Today’s Watch

My trusty Casio MRW 200H-1BV. I bought this for $19 out of necessity back in 2016. It’s been my beater and I still absolutely love it. What’s on your wrist today?

Minor Upgrade

I’ve had my AE1200WH for a few weeks now and decided to make some minor modifications, specifically removing the text on the case and some on the inside.

A little Goo-Gone, a few Q-tips, and a little time and elbow grease. Overall, I’m pretty damn happy with the results!

I’m honestly considering buying one or two more to make some more extensive mods!

Casio MCW-200H

Gifted by my wife who is supportive of my newfound Casio addiction. This watch is simple, effective, and comfortable. I love the color scheme!

Left to right, top to bottom (in order of acquisition):

Casio Edifice EF-527
Casio MRW200H-1BV
Casio MRW200H-7BV
Casio AW-81
Casio AE-1200 WH

The each have a story. I didn’t realize I was a Casio guy until I realized I’m a Casio guy! This is a fraction of my watch collection, and I think Casio has sent me down a rabbit hole!
