Potential way to avoid failed orders using up one of your daily “picks.”

Hi everyone! Not sure if this has been shared before, but, like many of you, I’ve encountered the issue of selecting an item and proceeding all the way through the Vine “checkout” process, only for the order to fail because the item was no longer available. (Usually, after clicking “place order,” there will be a red error message saying that something went wrong and the order could not be placed, etc.) Although that can be a bummer, the real issue is when the failed order then counts towards our daily order limit. For some reason, I’ve been getting a lot of “ghost” items in my RFY lately, and it won’t tell me the item is unavailable until I get all the way through checkout. Then, when I go to select a different item later, the system will count the failed order as one of my daily picks. The option to request any other product will be greyed out. If I hit “request product,” an error message will pop up and say that I’ve already reached my maximum number of orders for the day.

Anyway, it happened tonight with an item in my RFY. I requested the item, went all the way through checkout, hit “place order,” and got the failed order message. This time, I stayed on the page where the red error message popped up. (Usually, I’ll just exit the window and go back to the Vine page.) I noticed that there was an option that said “remove item” or something along those lines. I clicked it, and it then said “this item has been successfully removed from your order.” (I’m paraphrasing; next time, I’ll take screenshots.) I wasn’t super hopeful and was pretty sure the failed order would be counted against my daily pick limit. BUT, I just confirmed that, this time, the failed order did NOT count against my daily order limit!

I’m not sure if the fact that I clicked the “remove order” option helped clear it from my order history completely to prevent it counting towards my daily order limit, or helped in any way to prevent against it glitching, but I am sharing anyways, just in case it actually worked. It might be worth a try if you find yourself encountering a ghost item, especially if you’re in the silver tier and only get three daily picks. It’s always lame if you have a failed order and then get robbed of your third daily pick just because of a system error. If you happen to try this out and it works (or doesn’t work), or if you’ve tried this and it has/hasn’t worked, it might be helpful to share on this feed!!

Happy vining, everyone!!!

Is anyone actually making sales lately?

I’ve been selling on Poshmark for over five years. For the past several years (up until the past year-ish), I was really doing well for a part-time seller. I have a separate career as an attorney, so I’ve always sold on a part-time basis. I am not a “casual” seller, but I’m not a full-time/professional seller either. I have thousands of items listed for sale, and I regularly source new inventory that is timely and aligned to the current market trends.

I really had a good thing going for quite some time. I was making about 3-4 sales per day. Nothing super high-dollar, but it was enough for me to start building a savings account with my profits. However, since the change in ownership and the massive overhaul of the platform, my sales have almost completely dried up. I mean, it’s like crickets. I now feel lucky and am borderline shocked if I make even just one sale per week. I still actively list new items. (I have a significant unlisted inventory, which I’m working on listing, but I’ve stopped sourcing additional items for now because I’m starting to think it’ll all end up sitting here stale and unmoved, even after I list it.) Listing new items seems to do absolutely nothing to my visibility.

I know that I’m not alone in my experience. I’m just wondering if any of you have actually been doing well on the platform over the past 6-12 months. If so, can you please let those of us struggling to make a sale know what tips you might have so we can recover and adjust to the new algorithm and app structure? I am feeling totally defeated and honestly am not sure where to go from here. I think it might be time for me to hang it up, but it’s hard to let go because I try to remain hopeful that things will soon be ironed out. I just feel like maybe it’s too far gone… Any inspiration and hope you can share? To those in similar positions as me, please feel free to join in my commiseration, too. I’m here to listen!
