Hot Take: Shane Gillis respects SNL as an institution and feels like the cast respects him

I keep seeing so many posts about Andrew and Mikey being ‘over it’ with his recent slip up. It looked like Andrew genuinely consoled him and could tell he was panicking - every screen grab of Mikey’s peeved face just shows the face he was making the whole time

I can’t find the rest of this pics (but I have the one of him with Turnstile), but after the Dakota episode there were a few BTS photos I saw of Shane with the cast, Turnstile, Atiba, Tim Robinson, and a few other friends of the show thick as thieves at the after party.

I don’t think the reason he keeps coming back is Lorne being geriatric and trying to win a new crowd. I think there’s a mutual respect between the crew and Shane.

His monologues come off tone deaf to many and are divisive to say the lease, but it looks like there’s a mutual respect between the people with actual stake in the show/craft and Shane.

SNL doesn’t seem to be in the business of platforming pieces of shit anymore (despite the 2016 +/- a few years, which is 10+ years ago now)

It’s pretty clear people behind the scenes and the cast get what he’s about and his true nature. The Rogan sphere shit pisses me off, but it doesn’t look at all like people on the inside think he’s the piece of shit everyone’s ready to paint him as
