The Case for an Event between League and Challenge

There are few Challenges per week especially for Europeans and many players don't have that much uninterrupted time. On the other hand Leagues have flexible scheduling but getting a trophy has more variance because you can't 4-1 into a top cut and there are more varied levels of competitive decks and players, and thus it's difficult to tell if the decks on mtgtop8 are all really well built or just had a good run. People chasing the leader board top position being favored for playing fast combo decks or dropping at 3-1 also feels bad.

I think it would be really cool to have a middle ground, let's call it Challeague, better terms welcome.

You would play up to 5 matches until 4 wins and if you achieve that, you go into a pseudo top 4, getting paired into other T4 and then "finals" players and if you win those two you get a Chealleague-Trophy, again better term welcome. You could then play a maximum of 20 Challeagues each month and have a leader board and make a tournament for the top 32 Challeaguers.

Anyways, I just had this idea in the middle of a bike ride and wanted to ask the community if this would be a good idea, if yes we could refine it and maybe ask wizards if they want to implement it.

Low-maintenance German belt drive endurance every day commute bike for mixed roads?

I commute daily for 1-2 hours in every season and every weather on a mix of tarmac, cobblestone paving (very slippery when wet) and unpaved forest / park dirt roads in the flat German city of Leipzig and am looking for a good value male bike with hub gears and "Rücktritt" back-pedalling brake, preferably with a belt drive. Must be legal on the street complete with dynamo, light, mud protection and so on.

My current 8 speed Shimano gear hub is driving me crazy because it constantly goes out of alignment, the yellow line is always invisible because of mud and the tuning knob never goes far enough even after a costly repair, so I'm looking for a new gear system that is low maintenance, does not go out of alignment all the time and is easily corrected. For example my 3 speed Shimano ones are very easy to tune and rarely go out of alignment but I need more than 3 speeds because after a while I can't keep up with the same speed at the same force, so should have 7+ gears.

As there is glass everywhere, high puncture resistance is important and in general the whole bike should be ultra durable and low maintenance. For example at my current bike the plastic pedals broke after two weeks even though I told the shop I need an ultra durable bike. With the bike I had before the pedals also broke even though they were made of metal.

I don't care much about resistance and weight, after all more resistance is free training, especially when I ride together with my family who aren't that fast.

Posture should not be upright but also not racing bike like, something semi-sportive but still comfortable if there is a balance to be had. I'm 1.85m 79kg so I guess I need a large frame?

Due to carpal tunnel syndrome, my hands should have a comfortable resting place with not too much vibration.

Budget would be up to around 1500€, is that realistic? Prefer something prebuilt that I just order and use as-is. Job bike is unfortunately not available to me.

Undefeated Dimir Tempo Nethergoyf Flow State League (10-0 Games)

  • 0:00:00 M1 vs faultedform on Oops
  • 0:05:52 M2 vs VaeterchenRost on Aluren Show
  • 0:18:23 M3 vs waraipt on BUG Witherbloom
  • 0:46:51 M4 vs KlausiK on UB Midrange (Barrowgoyf main)
  • 1:02:59 M5 vs JackieBrown on UR Tempo

Happy with the list, 73/75 ecobaronen UB Nethergoyf 2 Daze 1 Brazen main, 4 Consign SB but +1 Ponder -1 Thoughtseize for the UR Matchup mostly and because I feel it's more consistent. The UB Tempo Guide at https://kirdiemtg.de now also has a sideboard map by the way.

0:00:00 M1 vs faultedform on Oops

I kept a Wasteland only hand with Force because I know they always play Oops, they ran into my Force and conceded without seeing that I have no land. Sideboardwise I really like the mapping with -5 removal -3 Bowmasters +4 Consign +2 Surgical +2 FoN because I don't need to bring in Hydroblast as a pitch anymore. M1G2 I kept another Wasteland only hand with double force, they thoughtseized away FoW Nr. 1 and surprised me with a Xantid Swarm which I had to spend the second FoW on. Keep in Snuff vs Xantid? I drew Basic Island and he didn't combo then so I could just play Tamiyo + flip quickly. He played Jack-o-lantern so I didn't downtick Tamiyo but they cycled it in desparation to find a combo piece and then tamiyo was free again to pick up countermagic and discard and they conceded.

0:05:52 M2 vs VaeterchenRost on Aluren Show

I misclicked a Thoughtseize on one of the two Aceraks because I just intended to read the dungeon of it and thought rightclick + "Pick that" would show me the dungeon but at least my single Push was now live in case of Aluren. Fortunately Bowmasters + Tamiyo + double Wasteland was enough to find countermagic against Show and tell and win. Sideboarding wise I went with +2 FoN -2 Snuff -1 Push +1 Edict but I wasn't sure about the Push/Edict split regarding Revolt vs 1 mana more. M2G2 mishra's bauble saw needle on top and they went for T1 City of Traitors so I went for T1 Wasteland before the needle could name it. That got named T2 and then Tamyio could roam free. He played basic forest and Carpet of Flowers which I forced and then he conceded soon after with me having bowmasters as well.

0:18:23 M3 vs waraipt on BUG Witherbloom

Went slow and always kept up multiple removal spells with an active tamiyo and won. I wasn't sure if they are on some graveyard juke so I boarded in a single Surgical as a hedge and always shuffled it away when I saw it. In hindsight I should probably have kept some Bowmasters in as they played cantrips, not sure what the perfect boarding looks like here.

-2 Snuff (their creatures are black) +2 Edict -3 Bowmasters +2 FoN +1 Surgical

0:46:51 M4 vs KlausiK on UB Midrange (Barrowgoyf main)

I got really confused when they forced my Bauble, it turns out that was to turn on their Flow State. Managed to Daze a Barrowgoyf which they played instead of double wastelanding me out of my colored mana. Then I was free to Flow State and they conceced but it may have been correct by them because they had another Barrowgoyf in hand and I am on a smaller build with Nethergoyf where I don't need as much mana. Default sideboarding: -4 Fow +2 Barrow +2 Edict, I like having only 3 Thoughtseize main for this matchup. G2 was really scrappy but I beat them down with 2 nethergoyfs and wastelanded him just in time to prevent barrowgoyf stabilization.

1:02:59 M5 vs JackieBrown on UR Tempo

G1 OTD they had a very land heavy hand and I won with a single 5/6 Nethergoyf with us both having mostly lands otherwise. Sideboarding like we prepared for: -4 FoW -2 Seize (down to 1), +2 Barrow +2 Edict +2 Hydro. G2 ran T1 Hydroblast on DRC into Daze and then killed it T2 with Bowmasters. Game got still really close with Barrowgoyf vs double cutter. Missed lethal here where I could have pumped murktide to 12/12 using Nethergoyf from the grave. Nearly lost because of it as the cutter token brought me from 22 to 4 but then I swang back for lethal.

Maindeck

4 Nethergoyf 3 Orcish Bowmasters 4 Tamiyo, Inquisitive Student 4 Flow State 2 Murktide Regent

2 Daze 1 Brazen Borrower 4 Force of Will 4 Brainstorm 3 Fatal Push 2 Snuff Out

4 Ponder 3 Thoughtseize

2 Mishra's Bauble

4 Underground Sea 1 Island 1 Swamp 4 Polluted Delta 1 Bloodstained Mire 1 Verdant Catacombs 1 Scalding Tarn 1 Flooded Strand 4 Wasteland 1 Undercity Sewers

Sideboard

2 Barrowgoyf 2 Hydroblast 4 Consign to Memory 1 Massacre 2 Force of Negation 2 Sheoldred's Edict 2 Surgical Extraction
