Not flexing, just in disbelief over my power bill after leaving San Diego to Oregon

Ran the AC constantly this entire time because of yucky heat waves on and off. Power bill hardly went up at all. This is with an electric stove and in unit washer and dryer being run ~3-4 times a week.

I didn’t realize some of my Baggus from the years are rare!! I’m just sharing my little standard + baby bag collection (sans Lisa Simpson who goes missing around the house)

off orientation for 3 weeks and I feel like an insane person who shouldn’t have a nursing license 💜

Soooo. I am lucky enough that I got hired into a dayshift position on a med/onc floor, 4:1 ratio. I had 3 different preceptors who all vouched for me and said they believed I could handle it. The hiring manager asked me if I thought I could - I answered honestly and said I’m always willing to learn but the idea is definitely daunting.

The pace is hard! My first 2 weeks I had a rapid each week, and struggled to catch up after them. Both rapids happened literally right at change of shift. Neither of them needed to be transferred to higher floors, they both recovered and stayed with me the whole day. The first one I clocked out on time but barely finished my required tasks, plus had 2 needy patients, 2 discharges 2 admits, 1 total care and my CNA was already stretched real thin. My second one, I stayed an hour after charting because again, 2 discharges, 2 admits, my rapid patient recovered but had 2 long aggressive outbursts later in the day, then both of my admits were behaviorally noncompliant or also aggressive 💜💜💜

I went home that day feeling like a fucking dummy and like I shouldn’t have a nursing license at all. I know it’s only been 3 weeks off orientation but I have sooo much anxiety going into work, I’m terrified of having bad days, I feel like I miss things, I just feel so stupid every hour I’m at work. I feel a lot better when I’m able to read the notes and piece things together but those two shifts where I had rapids, that wasn’t possible and I felt like a clueless idiot during report. Thankfully the night shift team on my floor is amazing, there’s only one nurse who’s an absolute fucking misery to give report to, but I feel bad or like I’m letting people down passing my patients off after a busy day :(

I’m just ranting

sitting here on my break so thankful to have a supportive partner

I’m not trying to brag at all. I’m a new grad on my second week off orientation, I have a difficult patient tonight and I’m still not done charting my assessments from the beginning of my shift.

I’m eating my lunch and fully realized my boyfriend packed me a last minute lunch once he got home from work so I could get extra sleep and so I’d have something to eat through the night, and I get driven to and from work everyday.

Idk where I’d beeee without him :’) it makes such a difference in my wellbeing and I don’t even notice sometimes because I’m so caught up trying to figure out this job

Does anyone know how the hell the Ticketmaster exchange thing works? Would I have any issues if I got tickets from a verified third party site?

Hi! I’m a girl in her 20s and I didn’t expect to really like Westerns but… here I am lol.

I’m working through Lonesome Dove rn and plan to read the rest of the series. Already read Warlock and loved it.

I think a specific request I have is to avoid pulpy reads. I like more character-led stories rather than a story that’s hitting beats.

Thank you:))

To preface, I do have an anxiety disorder and am seeking treatment !! But I am generally a horrible overthinker. Going into this job I made it a point of keeping my anxiety contained and I try not to let it stop me from trying to learn, better myself, ask questions, or take action, but I feel it very intensely and it has presented major issues for me in the past.

That being said, I am finishing up my orientation over the next 2 shifts. I got 10 weeks total for med/surg, for the last 5-6 weeks I’ve been taking the entire team with light supervision from my preceptor, and me asking for help with things I am unfamiliar with, i.e. my first unstageable wound dressing change, etc. I always ask for feedback from every preceptor. I by no means feel like I know everything, I’m pretty anxious at work, I try to google things often, I feel dumb all the time. I’m really focusing on trying to get through my tasks safely while attempting to build knowledge, make connections, and see the “whole” picture for each patient, which I know will come with time and experience.

I still feel like I’m ready to come off orientation and I can’t tell if that’s a red flag?? My big fear still is encountering the numerous situations I haven’t seen with a preceptor, but I also feel confident in seeking advice because the experienced nurses on my unit are really great teachers and look for opportunities to help me and the other new nurses through it.

Do I have the wrong attitude?? Like, I’m anxious to be off of orientation but I more or less feel like I have to take the training wheels off at some point and the nurses I work with are great. I think I’m just worried I might be in the mindset of an overconfident new grad :’)
