Panasonic sharpeners again

I’m back. Still curious about these Panasonic sharpeners. I found some KP-88A that are like $200. What makes these in particular so much more expensive that others like the KP-33 and KP-100s?

And if I decide to buy a vintage Panasonic what should I look out for when buying it?

Point like a Panasonic

I stumbled upon a KP-33 today and I LOVE the point it creates. What other modern sharpeners give your pencil that same long point?

And if I break down and buy a used KP-33, is it possible to fix them or replace the blades/sharpening mechanism?

Where do you buys your pencils?

I’ve been looking for a Blackwing 602 equivalent and it took me down the pencil rabbit hole and that brought me here. As I’ve been poking around I’ve seen some recommendations and saw Jetpens as an option to buy from. But they don’t have all the options like Musgrave and one that started with a K (can’t remember the full name but right now). They also didn’t have some of the Mitsubishi models. Do you all have a one stop shop or any recommendations for where to buy from? I can get some Mitsubishi Hi Uni and Tombow Mono but not the Tombow Mono 100 locally but that’s about as good as it gets.

TIA

Grain direction curly maple

Can someone help me figure out what direction the grain is on this scrap piece of curly maple? I tried hand planing it and I can’t figure what direction to go without tear out. I tried going across it with the most success but I’m confused on how I’m supposed to get the best results.

I’m new to hand planes and curly maple. Help a brother out. Por favor.

I’m a complete noob to this. Is there a good entry-level model you all would recommend for me and my 10 year old?

I forgot to mention that I’d like to keep it under $100. And I don’t know much about the sizes.

Edited to add budget.
