Any WhatNot sellers in the area?

Howdy y'all! I am looking for someone who is experienced with WhatNot to hire to help me with some shows. I am not very familiar with the platform and would love to seek support from someone in the community.

I've lived in Denton for my entire adult life and now own the largest knife store in Texas that only carries USA Made knives and gear. But I want to branch out to WhatNot.

I visited Hypercut MFG and got to see how the knives are made. Tons of hand finishing. Shop Tour is on YouTube now.

I think a lot of folks don't really understand just how much effort goes into making a single pocket knife. In the video Dylan walks us through many of the manual steps to make one of their knifes. Hypercut MFG also has an active Redit page that you should check out: u/HypercutMFG

How did I do this shop tour? This summer I did a road trip and visited 35 USA knife makers, including Dylan at Hypercut MFG. It was amazing! We called it The Great American Knife Tour™.

Here are some question ppl have asked me:

Why would I do this? I own a knife store called Lone Star Knife & Supply that exclusively carries USA made knives. I've been running and growing my knife store while working a corporate 9-5 for the last few years. One thing I love to do is go to Blade Shows and interview makers.

Then I got fired earlier this year. I had to make a decision, do I go all-in on LSKS or do I get another 9-5. I decided to go all-in and this was the idea I came up with.

The Great American Knife Tour™ is a first in the knife industry. I already had 50+ interviews on YouTube from Blade Shows, so let's go to where the knives are actually being made. I don't think anyone has ever visited this many knife makers and posted videos about all of them.

When will the [insert maker] video get posted? I am doing my best to get things edited, reviewed by the makers, and then posted. But we also have knives to ship and more videos to make. My goal is to have everything posted before I go to the TACC show in early September.

Why am I sharing this? Well, this is kind of self-promotion. But more than that I want you to see how knives are actually made in the USA. I think many people would be blow away by how small some of the teams are behind their favorite brands. For example, watch the Heretic Knives video.

Haven't you already posted about this? Yup, and I will keep posting about it. The internet is a big place and people don't just see stuff the first time it's posted. So every few videos I'll do a reddit post. A lot of people in this community don't just care about the knifes they carry, but also the maker behind the knives.

Thanks for watching and reading.

My recommendations for Blade Show Atlanta

Howdy y’all 👋 I’m Chris with Lone Star Knife & Supply and I go to most of the shows and know a lot of USA knife makers. If you are going to the show, I’d encourage you to add these makers to the agenda. These aren’t my “favorites” or an exhaustive list, just makers you shouldn’t miss.

Pro-Tech — BOOTH 14 Bringing an obscene amount of show exclusives, over 50 models if I remember right.

McNees Knives — BOOTH 424, probably the best maker at running a booth. Very friendly. Eager to talk to everyone.

Core Edge USA — TABLE 16J. Two dudes making OTFs. Wild what they’ve accomplished

OEG EDC — BOOTH 649 Always has an imaginative vision for the booth. This year is no different.

Simeon Custom Knives — BOOTH 639. Custom maker makes amazing knives and is introducing a new line at Blade Show. I won’t spoil, but very exciting.

American Blade Works — TABLE 16S. The maker of the ABW Slip Joint has a fascinating story on how he started making knives. Worth a stop

Tactile Turn — BOOTH 1350. New pen that uses the clip as the bolt

Asheville Steel / Paragon — TABLE 18X. If you haven’t felt and handled a Warlock, treat yourself.

417 CNC — TABLE 14D. Newer maker. Wild designs.

Rivery Manufacturing — BOOTH 2412. Blade Show debut last year. They are the makers of the Zero. New stuff coming soon.

Lexrex — TABLE 39B. One the kindest and joyful makers I’ve ever met. And he’s a machine at making knives.

All these are USA knife makers. That’s all I cover at the shows and the only knives we carry at Lone Star Knife & Supply.

Shed Knives is shutting down

Delaware based Shed Knives are shutting down after 8 years. Owner cited, to “pursue a different career field” as a reason for the shut down.

I’m sad about this because I want the USA made knife market to be large enough to support a variety of different style knives. Shed knives were definitely different than most fixed blades on the market. Much thicker, smaller handles, bigger focus on durability than carryability.

Here is a short video about Shed I made a while back. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DW2U61wiGQj/?igsh=N2ppbDFwaWN5aGJ0

miUSA Changed My Life

I’m a knife collector and love USA made knives. The Benchmade Osborn 940 was the first in my collection and really gave me the itch for other knives.

As I shopped for more USA made knives, over the years I started to realize I kind of hated always having to sort and filter to find USA made knives. I just wanted a place that made it easy to buy USA made. So in 2023 I started Lone Star Knife & Supply to be the knife store I wanted.

Everything we sell is USA made. And we’ve grown to be the largest knife store in Texas that only carries miUSA knives. We’ve sent thousands of knives to all 50 states.

This is now my full time job. I’m a professional knife store owner. And it all started with wanting American stuff to be the main focus.

Would always love the communities support 🤠 LoneStarKnife.com
