laptop for speech language therapy student with low budget

I'm looking for a laptop that can carry me through about 2 more years of university and writing my bachelor thesis. I've had someone recommend the Lenovo v15 gen 4, is that anything?

My needs:

- something portable I can carry around most days

- no fancy programs, I basically only need the office suite

- I just need to do research, write essays, take notes and maybe edit some basic audio sometimes via audacity

- not a gamer

- I'm not an apple user and would only get a MacBook if it's truly the best option here

- I'll need to ask a family member to buy this for me and would like to keep the price as low as possible, so under 600$ would be great

I'll keep an eye out for refurbished ones but I've had bad experiences before where the battery was completely shot, so I'm a bit cautious about that. I'm open to any input, if it's not possible to get a reliable laptop within my budget feel free to tell me

Thank you for your help!

I'm moving soon and planning to switch to floor sleeping, which means that I'll throw my bed out for a while. If it doesn't work out for me, I can use use the futon as a guest bed/couch and buy a traditional mattress later.

The only thing I'm concerned about is what the experience will be if I get sick and spend more time than usual lounging around in bed. I'll be moving to a small apartment without traditional bed or couch to spread out on, although of course I can fold the futon into a couch-situation?

I just imagine that especially if I'm unwell, I could miss the comfort of a bigger/softer bed. Or is that just because it's what I'm used to sleeping on now?

Has anyone experienced issues or non-issues with this? Thank you!
