Why is it that the pacers can never get over the hump?

Looking back over some LeBron highlights someone posted made me realize how the pacers have always had some playoff teams, but it seems like they can never seem to take it all the way and win a ring.

Why is it that they can never seem to do it?

Do you think it’s that they’re always too focused on other teams and trying to take advantage of small moments rather than the big picture? Kind of like hitting the choke emotes against the Knicks even though in both of those years they couldn’t win a ring? Well actually, I think with the Reggie one they didn’t even beat them in the series. Or like for example, the malice at the palace when they just decided to act crazy and basically threw the whole season and possibly that whole team?

Or do you think it has something to do with a fault within their organization? Like Rick Carlisle always being too focused on trying to work the refs and drum up sympathy for them being a “small market team” rather than focusing on the bigger picture and trying to get his team in a winning mindset?

Or do you think it’s the fans? Maybe they, like the team, try to take too much joy in petty and trivial wins rather than actually buckling down and going for a chip?

It’s just so perplexing, it’s hard to tell exactly what’s wrong with the franchise. I know at this point a lot of people are hoping they can turn their history around and try to redeem what is widely regarded as a pathetic and miserable franchise.
