Frontier CEO Jimmy Dempsey: The Man Who Helped Build the Mess Gets Promoted to Run It

Jimmy Dempsey became Frontier’s CEO on January 7, 2026, after serving as interim CEO since December 15, 2025.

Eleven years at Ryanair. Twelve years at Frontier. Former CFO. Former President overseeing Customer Care.
And this is the guy who’s supposed to fix Frontier?

Read r/frontierairlines.

Passengers report outrageous baggage charges, broken check-in systems, missed flights, denied refunds and customer service that sounds like a bureaucratic nightmare.

One passenger reported missing a flight after Frontier’s baggage system failed. Another described being charged an oversized-bag fee despite pointing to Frontier’s published policy.

These are customer allegations, not proven findings. But they’re hardly flattering.

Meanwhile, Frontier keeps chasing more fees while struggling with profitability.

Dempsey didn’t inherit this circus. He helped build it.
Now he’s sitting in the CEO’s office.

Frontier’s biggest problem may not be its passengers, competitors or ticket prices.

It may be the people running the airline.

Frontier GoWild! Pass auto-renewed for $599 — apparently I had only 24 hours to request a refund

Posting this as a warning to other Frontier GoWild! Pass holders.

My annual GoWild! Pass automatically renewed for $599 on April 30. I didn’t catch the renewal at the time. I also couldn’t find an advance renewal reminder from Frontier in my email.

I hadn’t used the renewed pass and hadn’t taken any Frontier flights after the renewal.

When I eventually contacted Frontier and asked them to cancel the renewed pass and refund the $599, I was told the refund request had to be made within 24 hours of the renewal. They refused the refund.

I disputed the charge through my credit card company. Frontier responded with the original GoWild! terms showing that I had agreed to automatic renewal, and the dispute ultimately went Frontier’s way.

I’m not claiming the charge was fraudulent. I originally signed up for GoWild! and agreed to an auto-renewing membership. But a $599 annual renewal combined with what Frontier told me was a 24-hour refund window is something customers should understand very clearly.

So here’s my advice to anyone with GoWild!: check your expiration/renewal date today. If you don’t want another year, don’t assume you’ll have much time to fix it after the charge hits.

I got some value from the pass, so I’m moving on rather than spending more time fighting over the $599. But I think other customers deserve to know exactly what happened.
Has anyone else had a GoWild! Pass automatically renew? Did Frontier send you a reminder beforehand?
