Went up to 100mg Zoloft/Sertraline just over 3 weeks ago. 50mg was working very very well for me for about 5 months. Then I had a return of depressive and PTSD symptoms. First two weeks of dose increase the physical side effects were really intense (all the usuals) and low mood. I still have low mood into Week 3 and I’m sleepy/groggy and lacking motivation. 50mg worked so well for me I’m hoping the same will happen now with 100mg. Do I just need to wait it out? How long did it take others for low mood to shift after dose increase? Thanks in advance for any stories/advice!

Hi all, I’ve recently (3 weeks ago) gone up from 50mg to 100mg. I had been on 50mg for approx. 4 months and it had been working really well. I felt so much lighter and for the first time in years I found myself genuinely saying “I’m not depressed!” I was prescribed Sertraline for PTSD, depression and anxiety and 50mg was working extremely effectively at treating my symptoms.

However, about 5 weeks ago, I noticed a return of my depressive and PTSD symptoms and after talking to my GP she suggested going up to 100mg. The first 10 days or so were really rough with an intense return of side effects: low mood, nausea, sleepiness/grogginess, insomnia, headaches and dizziness (so much so I actually fell and had to go to A&E). Gradually, the physical side effects have dissipated, leaving only some grogginess and trouble falling asleep.

My mood, on the other hand, is still very low. I’m spending a lot of time in bed needing to rest and I can just tell from my thoughts and the feelings I’m having that the meds aren’t working (yet). Does anyone have similar experiences? Will it get better? 50mg was working so effectively I really felt I finally had my life back! So, I’m really hoping I can get back to that place.

After 4 months on Sertraline 50mg which has been working very effectively for treating depression, PTSD and anxiety, I had noticed a few weeks ago a return of PTSD and depressive symptoms. Along with my provider, I have started on 100mg Sertraline 5 days ago.

I’m experiencing severe fatigue (slept about 17 hours the other day on and off) as well as the usual nausea and headaches. I’m also experiencing very low mood and depressive symptoms again which I haven’t had since starting 50mg.

How long has it taken others for a dosage increase to settle down? Especially after the 50mg dose being so effective for several months.

I felt like I had my life back when I started on 50mg after a couple of weeks of ups and downs plus side effects and I’m hoping to get back to that place.

Any advice/anecdotes/reassurance would be appreciated!
