Do I pay for insurance before buying the car...?

Hi. It's my first time buying a car so I'm really confused how this works.

I already put a deposit on a car and I will be picking up on Thursday. I already got few quotes and found out that progressive online gave me the best price.

So my question is, is it better to pay for the insurance now and set the effective day as thursday? If I pay for the insurance on thursday at the dealrship, does it just get approved online right away or does it take time for a human agent to approve?

Thanks for any comments!

Used 23 Pro, anything to look at after picking up?

Pulled the trigger on 23 Pro!

Just bought a 2023 ID.4 Pro RWD - picking it up Thursday. It's a lease return with 48k miles, clean Carfax. Paid $21.5k out the door.

Might be slightly over market, but with used EV prices trending up and needing a car within the week, it felt like the best deal I could find.

From what I've seen, the tires looked like they're due for replacement soon. Dealer says everything else checked out fine, but I'm planning to take it to an independent shop nearby right after pickup just to be safe. Anything specific I should have them look at, or things that tend to go wrong on these at these mileage?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Used ID.4 vs Polestar 2

Hey! I'm in the market for used EV and I would love to get some advice on the 2 models that I narrowed down to.

Both are clean title, single owner, no accidents.

+ same price : 22k out the door.

ID.4 Pro - 48k miles.

- Roomy (don't really need the space, just me driving but still nice), well-known brand but infotainment screen was bit laggy.

Polestar 2 Standard - 34k miles.

- Drives great, love the design, but due to Polestar's exiting in the US market, so I'm worried resale value could tank - will it go down to like $5k in 3 years?

Im leaning towards Polestar for the driving feel and desifn but the "brand is leaving the country" thing has me nervous. Would love to get some advice!
