ENGWE E26 3.0 Preview: Dual Motors, Fat Tires, and a September 2 Launch

ENGWE just previewed the upcoming E26 3.0, and it looks like an interesting addition to their lineup.

It’s a dual-motor fat-tire e-bike with a September 2 launch planned. I put together a preview covering what ENGWE has confirmed so far, what stands out, and what we still don’t know before launch.

What do you think - does the E26 3.0 look promising, or would you want to see more details first?

Desktop - Reddit Pro Links domain verification stuck on “Verifying your domain”

Hi, I’m hoping someone can help me with a Reddit Pro Links domain verification issue.

I’m already enrolled in Reddit Pro and have access to Dashboard, Performance, Trends, and Links.

I submitted my website, https://electricbikeexplorer.com/, for the Links feature. At the time, the email on my Reddit account did not match my website domain.

I later changed my Reddit account email to info@electricbikeexplorer.com and successfully verified that email.

Reddit’s help information says that after correcting the email, I should be able to resubmit my information for verification. However, I never received an option to resubmit. The Links page has continued to show:

“Verifying your domain”

It also says Reddit is verifying that I’m the owner of the provided URL and will notify me when I’ve been approved.

My Reddit username is u/krissym72, and I also moderate r/ElectricBikeExplorer.

I’ve tried finding the appropriate Reddit support form, but none of the Account Help categories or dropdown options seem to apply to Reddit Pro/Links/domain verification.

Is there a way to restart the domain verification process, resubmit my website, or have someone from Reddit check whether the original verification request is stuck?

Thanks for any help.

Took a closer look at the new Ride1Up Revv1 EVO

I just finished putting together an early-look review of the Ride1UP Revv1 EVO, and there’s quite a bit that caught my attention with this one.

Ride1Up made some pretty interesting changes to the Revv1 platform, including the new battery setup, full suspension, fat tires, and the overall moped-style design. Since production bikes aren’t widely in riders’ hands yet, I also tried to separate what Ride1Up is claiming from what we actually know so far.

I went through the specs, features, who I think it makes the most sense for, and a couple of alternatives worth considering.

I’m curious what everyone thinks of the EVO. Would you consider one, or is there another moped-style e-bike you’d choose instead?

Which Gravel E-Bikes Are Actually Worth Buying?

I put together a gravel e-bike guide after comparing a bunch of the current options, from lighter road/gravel bikes to more adventure-focused models for rough roads and bikepacking.

I ended up with picks from Trek, Salsa, Specialized, Orbea, Ridley, and Santa Cruz because they each fit a pretty different kind of rider.

Curious what everyone here thinks - are there any gravel e-bikes you’d add to the list or any you’ve had especially good or bad experiences with?

Why Your E-Bike Range Can Be So Different From the Advertised Range

A manufacturer might list a pretty impressive range for an e-bike, but that doesn’t mean every rider will get that distance on every ride.

Your actual range can change quite a bit depending on things like:

  • Pedal-assist level - higher assistance normally uses the battery faster.
  • Throttle use - relying heavily on the throttle can reduce range compared with contributing more through pedaling.
  • Speed - maintaining higher speeds generally requires more energy.
  • Hills - climbing takes considerably more power than riding on flat ground.
  • Rider and cargo weight - more total weight means the motor has more work to do.
  • Wind - a strong headwind can make a noticeable difference.
  • Temperature - cold conditions can temporarily reduce lithium-ion battery performance.
  • Tire pressure - underinflated tires create additional rolling resistance.
  • Frequent stops and starts - accelerating repeatedly can use more energy than maintaining a steady pace.

So when you see an e-bike advertised with something like “up to” a certain number of miles, think of that as a range estimate under particular conditions, rather than a guarantee of what every rider will get.

Two people riding the exact same e-bike could end a ride with very different battery levels.

For those of you who already own an e-bike: how close is your real-world range to what the manufacturer advertised?

Monday E-Bike Questions: What Are You Trying to Figure Out This Week?

Buying your first e-bike? Having a battery problem? Confused about motor size, range, weight, local rules or whether a particular bike is worth considering?

Drop your question below.

It can be anything from:

  • “Is this bike a good fit for my commute?”
  • “Why is my battery losing range?”
  • “750W vs 500W - does it really matter?”
  • “Can I ride this on a local trail?”
  • “Is this used e-bike worth buying?”

Give as much detail as you can - budget, rider height, terrain, distance, bike model, symptoms, etc. That usually makes it much easier for everyone to give useful advice.

Owners are welcome to jump in too. If you’ve dealt with the same problem, share what worked for you.

What are you trying to figure out this week?

Has Anyone Tried the Urtopia Carbon Fold 2? I Looked Into the Range, Weight, and Tradeoffs

I took a closer look at the Urtopia Carbon Fold 2 because the 35 lb weight really stands out for a folding e-bike. I compared the real-world range, braking, folding setup, ride quality, and a few spec inconsistencies from Urtopia. Curious what others think of it, especially anyone who has ridden one.

This Week in E-Bikes: New Local Rules, California Injury Data and Trek Speed Standards

Here are four e-bike stories I’m following this week. Local and state officials are continuing to debate how e-bikes should be classified and regulated, while Trek has announced its own voluntary limits for e-bikes sold in the United States.

1. Jacksonville, Florida - City considers an under-11 restriction and 10 mph sidewalk limit

Jacksonville is considering Ordinance 2026-570, which would prohibit children under 11 from operating e-bikes on sidewalks, roads, bike lanes, paths and other city-owned property. The proposal would also establish a 10 mph e-bike speed limit on sidewalks and add rules covering helmets, passengers, nighttime lighting and unsafe riding.

The ordinance remains under consideration and is not currently in effect.

Read more about Jacksonville’s proposed e-bike rules

2. San Diego, California - UC San Diego study finds a sharp rise in reported e-bike injuries statewide

A UC San Diego-led study examined reported e-bike and conventional bicycle collisions across California from 2018 through 2024. Researchers identified more than 1,500 reported e-bike incidents in 2024, compared with only two identified incidents in 2018.

Children age 14 and younger represented a larger share of the injured e-bike group, and moderate-to-severe injuries were more common among the e-bike cases than the conventional bicycle cases. However, the study did not calculate the risk per trip or mile, and rising e-bike use likely contributed to the increase in total incidents.

Read more about the California e-bike injury study

3. Boston, Massachusetts - E-bike safety proposal moves to a conference committee

The Massachusetts Senate approved a proposed micromobility framework covering e-bikes, electric scooters and faster electric devices. The proposal includes a four-tier speed system, battery and electrical safety standards, expanded helmet rules and new restrictions for higher-speed devices.

The Massachusetts House rejected the Senate’s amendment on July 30. The House and Senate have now appointed a conference committee to negotiate their differences. None of the proposed requirements is currently law.

Read more about the proposed Massachusetts e-bike safety rules

4. Waterloo, Wisconsin - Trek announces voluntary nationwide e-bike speed standards

Trek Bicycle has adopted voluntary speed standards for the e-bikes it sells in the United States. Trek electric mountain bikes will be limited to Class 1 operation, with pedal assistance ending at 20 mph and no throttle.

Trek’s pavement e-bikes may provide pedal assistance up to 20 or 28 mph, depending on the model and where the configuration is permitted. Equipped pavement models may provide throttle assistance up to 20 mph.

These are Trek company standards, not new federal or state laws. Trek says the limits are intended to protect access to trails, bike paths and other shared riding areas.

Which of these developments do you think will have the biggest effect on riders?

Do you think clearer age and speed rules will improve safety, or are education, infrastructure and enforcement more important?

Fix-It Thursday: What Problem Is Your E-Bike Having?

Is your e-bike refusing to charge, cutting out while riding, showing an error code, making an unusual noise, or losing range?

Post your troubleshooting question below and include:

  • E-bike brand and model
  • What the bike is doing
  • Any error code shown
  • When the problem started
  • What you have already checked or tried

Photos can also help, especially for damaged wires, loose connectors, brakes, tires, displays, or wheel sensors.

Please turn the bike off and remove the battery before checking wiring or electrical connections when possible. Do not open or repair a damaged battery pack yourself.

Other riders are welcome to share what worked for them, but remember that the same symptom can have different causes on different e-bikes.

You can also use the free diagnostic and troubleshooting tools at Electric Bike Explorer.

Cannondale Adventure Neo 4 Review - Comfortable Bosch Mid-Drive, but Is It Worth $2,875?

I just finished a research-based review of the Cannondale Adventure Neo 4.

The biggest strengths are its easy step-through frame, upright riding position, smooth Bosch Active Line mid-drive motor, hydraulic disc brakes, and removable 400Wh battery.

My main concern is value. At the current $2,875 list price, it does not include integrated lights, fenders, a rear rack, or suspension. Cannondale’s written specifications and product photos also appear to show different component configurations, so buyers should verify the exact drivetrain and brakes before purchasing.

My final score: 7.8 out of 10 - Good with Tradeoffs

Best for comfort-focused riders who value smooth pedal assistance and local dealer support. It becomes a stronger option when discounted.

Have you ridden the Adventure Neo 4? I’d be interested to hear how it performs on hills and longer rides.

This Week in E-Bikes - Boston Vouchers, School Safety Rules and New Local Laws

Here are five e-bike stories I’m following this week. Several communities are introducing new safety rules for younger riders, while Boston residents have a limited-time opportunity to apply for an e-bike voucher.

1. Conroe and The Woodlands, Texas - Students must walk e-bikes on campus

Starting with the 2026-2027 school year, Conroe ISD students will be required to get off their e-bikes and e-scooters once they enter school property. Students can still ride to school, but they must walk their devices to the designated bike racks. The district is also preparing safety information for students and families.

2. Boston, Massachusetts - E-bike voucher applications open through August 3

Eligible Boston residents can apply for the city’s e-bike voucher program until noon on August 3, 2026. Standard e-bike vouchers range from $800 to $1,200, while cargo e-bike vouchers range from $1,100 to $1,500. Recipients also receive a $150 safety-equipment voucher. Applications are selected randomly, so applying early does not improve the chances of being chosen.

3. Franklin, Brentwood and Williamson County, Tennessee - Student safety training required

Williamson County Schools will require students in grades 3 through 12 to complete an e-bike and e-scooter safety course before riding one to school. A parent or guardian must attend the approximately one-hour course, and the device must be registered and display a school-issued tag. The requirement begins during the 2026-2027 school year.

4. Darby Borough, Pennsylvania - 9-year-old injured in reported e-bike crash

A 9-year-old boy was injured Saturday near South MacDade Boulevard and Chestnut Street in Darby Borough. Surveillance footage reportedly showed the child falling as a truck passed, but authorities had not established whether the truck made contact or exactly what caused the crash. The child was reported to be recovering.

5. Everett, Washington - City approves new e-bike rules

The Everett City Council has approved new rules covering helmets, sidewalks, trails and higher-speed electric devices. The changes include helmet requirements for riders under 16, restrictions on devices capable of traveling over 20 mph on sidewalks and trails, and penalties for reckless riding or certain illegal modifications. Riders under 11 will also need adult supervision.

What do you think about these new school and city rules? Do required safety courses make more sense than simply restricting where younger riders can use e-bikes?

Aventon Pace 5 REC review - strong range and security features, but a few tradeoffs

I recently put together a research-based review of the Aventon Pace 5 REC and thought some of you might find it useful.

The bike has a 750W rear-hub motor, a low step-through frame, strong reported range, GPS connectivity, electronic locking features, regenerative braking, and switchable torque- or cadence-sensor assistance.

The main tradeoffs are the lack of front suspension, no included suspension seatpost, and no standard rack or fenders. I also noticed that Aventon’s product page and current manual do not completely agree on battery capacity, claimed range, and charging time, so I included those differences in the review.

Based on the specifications and independent testing I found, I rated it 8.6 out of 10.

Full review here

I’m curious what others think of Aventon adding more connected security and regenerative braking to a comfort cruiser. Would those features matter to you, or would you rather have suspension and accessories included?

Best E-Bikes With Local Dealer Support: 6 Shop-Backed Picks

Buying an e-bike online can save money, but getting help afterward is not always easy. That is why I put together a guide to six e-bikes that are backed by local dealers and bike shops.

These are options for riders who would rather have somewhere nearby to go for assembly, maintenance, warranty help, or repairs instead of handling everything through email.

You can read the full guide here

How important is local dealer support when you are choosing an e-bike? Would you pay a little more for a bike that can be serviced locally?

Tenways CGO800S Review - Is This Belt-Drive City E-Bike Worth $1,699?

I recently finished researching the Tenways CGO800S, a lightweight step-through city e-bike with a Gates carbon belt drive, torque sensor, front suspension, hydraulic brakes, and a removable battery.

What stands out most is how different it is from many heavier commuter e-bikes. It does not have a throttle, multiple gears, or an oversized motor. Instead, it focuses on quiet operation, natural-feeling assistance, upright comfort, and lower drivetrain maintenance.

The main drawback is the single-speed setup. It should work well on flat and gently rolling routes, but riders who regularly face steep hills may miss having lower gears.

In the full review, I cover ride comfort, motor performance, hill climbing, battery range, independent testing, the Gates belt drive, brakes, display features, warranty, returns, customer support, owner experiences, pros and cons, who the bike is best for, and alternatives from Ride1Up and Aventon.

This is a research-based review rather than a hands-on test. I also separated testing of the current U.S. 350W model from results involving the lower-powered European version.

Read the full Tenways CGO800S review here:

Would you choose the quiet, low-maintenance belt drive, or would the lack of gears and throttle be a dealbreaker for you?

Velotric Discover M Review: Strong Mid-Drive Performance, but One Important Safety Update

I recently took a closer look at the Velotric Discover M, and it is one of the more interesting comfort-focused mid-drive e-bikes I’ve researched.

It has a 500W VeloCore mid-drive motor, 801.6Wh battery, torque and cadence sensor options, a removable throttle, air suspension fork, suspension seatpost, and a 440-pound total load capacity. Independent testing also showed strong hill-climbing performance and more than 80 miles of range in Eco mode.

There is a lot to like, especially for riders dealing with hills or wanting a more natural pedaling feel than a typical hub-drive commuter.

However, Velotric also has a service campaign involving the six bolts securing the rear brake rotor on a subset of Discover M bikes. I would definitely confirm that the upgraded bolts have been installed before riding or accepting delivery.

I covered the specifications, real-world testing, rider experiences, pros and cons, warranty, service campaign, and alternatives in my full Velotric Discover M review.

Has anyone here ridden or purchased the Discover M yet? I’d especially be interested in hearing how it handles hills and whether your bike needed the rotor bolt update.
