Lifetime deals - how?

Hi,

Bought the lifetime deal x2 myself, and i am happy with Drime, and the team behind.

I get that they are a startup, and are here for the long term - but they dont have a massive bank account backing them, so its always a gamble - yet i still firmly believe in Drime to be a huge success in the years to come.

Anyways - Drime is hosted on rented hardware (OVH), where i assume they have to pay every month, for the data to be stored.

I get that they also have users that pay a monthly fee.

But how can they sell lifetime deals, on rented hardware?

Small company

Hey there,

I am looking to replace an old NAS server with Nextcloud, and have some questions.

The company is approx 10-15 people

They simply use the NAS as network shares, and have 2-3 shares in total:

Common (everyone can access it)

Finance (only for the accountant and the 2 owners)

Management (Only for the 2 owners)

They dont want to host anything themself anymore, so the plan is to use a hosted Nextcloud solution.

I have briefly looked at the vendor list at Nextcloud, but they seem to all be licensing per user - not the storage.

Is that the only option available, to license per user? Today they all access the common share with the same user, and then the 2 owners and the accountant have their own account, that grants them extra network shares.

They are used to a network share - is the Nextcloud app the right solution in the future, or is WebDAV stable to use for them? - simply because it looks like a network share

How does Nextcloud handle, if two people opens the same file - on a network share, it locks the file - but if we use the Nextcloud App, then the files are present locally, and only after its synced after an edit, then a file conflict will occur - or not?

They dont want the email, calendar, whiteboards, etc - just simple cloud storage with MFA, that are easy and simple to use.

If anyone can recommend a provider in northern germany / Denmark, that would be perfect - they want zero maintenance (managing SSL certificates, perform updates, etc), but can easily create new users, reset passwords, etc.

Thanks in advance 😄

pCloud - rclone - any good?

Hi,

I can see that pCloud supports rClone - or rClone supports pCloud.

Does anyone have any experience with that? How is the speed? Is it stable for large files (50-150GB each) ?

AMD vs Intel DeskMini for Proxmox - is the price difference worth it?

I'm building a 4th DeskMini for my homelab and can't decide between two setups. The machine will run Proxmox with 5-6 VMs and sit in a cabinet with minimal airflow, so noise and temperature are critical.

I already have 3x ASRock DeskMini X600 with Ryzen 5 8600G + Noctua NH-L9a-AM5, and they run completely silent. Love them.

AMD Setup - ~$505

- ASRock DeskMini X600

- Ryzen 5 9600X

- Noctua NH-L9a-AM5

Intel Setup - ~$647

- ASRock DeskMini B860

- Intel Core i5-235T (or 225T)

- Noctua NH-L9i-17xx

My main concern with the 9600X is idle power - from my research it sits around 20W+ at idle, while the 235T should be much closer to 7-8W. In a cabinet with minimal airflow, that difference matters a lot for fan noise.

The Intel setup costs about $140 more. Is that worth it for lower idle power and a quieter machine in an enclosed cabinet?

Has anyone run a 9600X in a DeskMini X600 in a warm/enclosed environment? How does it behave at idle compared to an 8600G?

ThinkCentre M70q Gen 6 (Core Ultra 5 225T) - loud fan compared to other mini PCs?

I recently picked up a Lenovo ThinkCentre M70q Gen 6 with an Intel Core Ultra 5 225T, and I'm running it as a small Proxmox server with a single Windows VM.

The machine works great, but I'm surprised by how loud the fan is compared to my other mini PCs at idle. I have a HP Mini PC and a couple of ASRock machines (with Noctua coolers) that are nearly silent under the same light workload - but the M70q is noticeably louder even at less than 2% CPU load.

The machine sits in my living room, so ambient temperature is normal room temp (~21°C), and airflow around the unit is fine. CPU temps at idle sit around 47°C, and power consumption is around 7-8W.

I've already tried a few things to bring the temperature and noise down:

- Updated to the latest BIOS and did a full BIOS reset (recommended by Lenovo support)

- Set BIOS Intelligent Cooling to **Balance mode**

- Switched from `intel_idle` to `acpi_idle` via kernel parameter

- Verified the machine is actually reaching deep C-states at idle

I'm running Proxmox VE 9 with a single Windows VM, and the host itself is basically idle.

My best guess is that it's just the nature of the small blower fan - it has a higher minimum RPM than a large slow-spinning fan like a Noctua. But I wanted to check before giving up.

Has anyone else with an M70q Gen 6 (or similar ThinkCentre Tiny with Arrow Lake) experienced the same fan noise? Did you find a fix, or is this just how these machines are?

Specs:

- Lenovo ThinkCentre M70q Gen 6

- Intel Core Ultra 5 225T (Arrow Lake)

- 32GB DDR5

- Proxmox VE 9 with 1 Windows VM
