Two A Line trains going the same direction

First time seeing this. Two A Line trains going southbound simultaneously on Marmion Way between Highland Park and Southwest Museum stations. Pomona North train had arrived at HLP station but operator came out of the train and turned the train around to go southbound.

EDIT: the train made it all the way to Union Station and just turned back toward Pomona North.

Plastic bollards on Colima Rd Bike Lanes

County of LA has installed plastic bollards on bike lane along Colima Rd between Whittier border and Halliburton. These reflect well at night too.

Phase II from Halliburton to Azusa added a third travel lane and reduced bike lane to a gutter bike lane

“Gold Line” instead of “A Line”

Still saying “Gold Line” for the shuttle bus sign at Highland Park station. It’s been 3 years since the Gold Line became the A Line

Colima Rd Project Update: Reduced bike lane and new travel lane

Months ago, shared about Colima Rd roadway Phase I project (Whittier border to Halliburton) in Hacienda Heights, which reduced a travel lane and added a bigger paint protected bike lane on Colima Rd.

https://la.streetsblog.org/2026/05/08/eyes-on-the-street-colima-road-bike-lanes

Phase II (Halliburton to Azusa segment) is now complete and County of LA added a travel lane and reduced the bike lane to be narrow along the gutter, a sharp contrast from the first phase. At this point when biking this segment, either take the whole third travel lane or bike on the sidewalk.

Foothill Transit recommends to cancel commuter express Line 493 due to “no customer parking” at new “Twin Pines Transit Center” at Puente Hills Mall

Foothill Transit is currently looking at its commuter express routes and after public outreach, they have proposed to cut Commuter Express Line 493 due to “future planned development that would not allow for customer parking to ride Foothill Transit”.

The alternate is for customers in Hacienda and Rowland Heights area to travel east to Industry Park and Ride to ride 495 westbound towards DTLA. No local bus service serves Industry Park and Ride directly at the moment.

However per May 2026 board meeting on FY27 initiatives, they are working with the future Puente Hills Mall developers to create a “Twin Pines Transit Center” with eight bus bays, bus shelters, and restroom for bus operators. Currently, 8 local Foothill Transit lines serve Puente Hills Mall and so do they actually need parking for commuters?? And 493 travels local along Colima Rd from Fairway to Azusa so customers have options besides “park and ride”

Foothill Transit board will be discussing at their board meeting tomorrow, 6/26/26.

Foothill Transit plans to cancel commuter express route 493 since “no customer parking available” at new transit center

Foothill Transit Commuter Express Changes

Foothill Transit is planning to re-route and cancel a few of their commuter express busses from the San Gabriel Valley. Virtual Public Hearing is this Thursday, 5/22 at 4 pm via Zoom and they are soliciting comments until June 5.

The biggest impacts would be the cancellation of Line 493 (Rowland Heights via Puente Hills Mall) for those residing in Hacienda Heights/Rowland Heights area south of the 60. They are saying riders can drive east (~7-9 miles) to Industry Park and Ride (Industry Metrolink Station) to board Line 495 west to DTLA. There is no direct bus service currently from Colima Rd to the Industry Metrolink Station. In recent years, service from Industry City Hall Park and Ride (on Hacienda/Valley) was cancelled already.

Just submitted feedback to them with the following:

  • Route 495 along Colima Rd to Azusa Rd then get on the 60 (like the old 493)
  • Route 495 with a stop at Industry City Hall Park and Ride (Hacienda/Valley) (like the old 497)

New barriers on Spring St

On Spring St between Aliso and Arcadia, noticed new armadillos installed to separate car lanes and bike lanes. Often times, turning cars would veer into the bike lane. Noticing more quick build bike lane infrastructure improvements around DTLA!

Does Metro have a “no sleeping on train” policy?

On A Line south at Union Station (~6:23 am) on Train 1095, LAPD asked for TAP cards and woke an elderly rider up and said “No sleeping on trains”. The rider took out his TAP card and showed it and asked “who says no sleeping?”. Officer responded saying “I’m the police, I make the rules. This is not a rolling mobile hotel…”

Please spell out Long Beach and Santa Monica!

Seen last night at 7th St/Metro display screens. All other destinations are spelled out fully with the exception of Long Beach (Long Bch) and Santa Monica (S Monica). Who do we contact at Metro to get this changed?
