I am reading from the first chapter of the original Esperanto novel Kredu Min, Sinjorino!

> 1. KIU SIN ENJUNGIS, DEVAS TIRI.

> Estis malvarmete ekstere, sed la ĉambro, kie ni sidis, estis agrable varma. Mia plej kara amiko, Ernesto, sidis kontraŭ mi, donante sin plene al sia komforta brakseĝo. Jam dum unu horo ni parolis Esperante kaj pasis de temo al temo. Estis vere instiga plezuro aŭskulti lin; li tiom bone sidis en la lingvo. Ordinare, kiam li parolas per sia gepatra lingvo: la angla, mankas al li la vervo kaj esprimo, — sume, la muziko, kiu montriĝas kiam li parolas Esperanton. Lia Esperanta prozo estas poezio. Tute malsamaj ni estas. Arto kaj poezio tute ne tuŝas min, tamen mi ne povas ne senti la belecon de lia esprim-maniero.

Began serious learning efforts in September 2025 but only started recording my vocabulary repetitions in October. The actual number of repetitions is higher because this is only what I call my baseline repetitions; vocabulary reviews in SuperMemo when sorted from shortest, according to the SM-18 spaced repetition schedule. I spent a lot more time than this getting the basics of grammar and natural expression down. My efforts to revive my Tamil actually began back in early 2024 with learning of some 300-400 vocabulary cards in Anki (basically from scratch).

My native language is Slovak and my only connection to Tamil Nadu is that I was a youth exchange student in Coimbatore between August 2015 and 2016. I tried learning Tamil over the years but it was low effort, low priority, and a lack of language-learning skills that caused me to fumble hard and not get anywhere (beside being able to read Tamil script slowly, without understanding much at all). What contributed was also just the general lack of patience of Tamils who mostly used English with me to get the point across :)))
