Hodiaŭ ni markas 250 jarojn de usona sendependeco. Estas vere, ke la nacia momento foje sentigas dolĉamara. Kiam ni rigardas la nacian politikon, ni ja staras ĉe malfacila vojkruciĝo. La ombro de demagogio sub Donald Trump kaj la sento, ke ni luktas ene de kvazaŭ-demokratio, kreas veran politikan blokiĝon. Tamen, kiam mi malŝaltas la novaĵojn kaj rigardas la homojn ĉirkaŭ mi, mi vidas tute alian realaĵon — unu plenan de espero.

En mia ĉiutaga vivo, laborante flanke de konservativuloj kaj liberaluloj en lokaj historiaj asocioj kaj lernejaj estraroj, mi vidas nian landon funkcii bele. Kiam mi interagas kun ordinaraj homoj sur la strato aŭ en kunvenoj, mi ne renkontas la amaran disiĝon pri kiu la amaskomunikiloj tiom ofte parolas. Anstataŭe, mi renkontas homojn, kiuj estas ĝentilaj, trankvilaj kaj fundamente respektemaj unu al la alia. Ni kunlaboras por niaj komunumoj, sendepende de niaj politikaj etikedoj.

Kvankam ni eble troviĝas en nacia sakstrato, ni neniam forgesu tion, kio igas nian nacion tiel rimarkinda. Estas ĝuste niaj profundaj diferencoj — niaj diversaj devenoj, rasoj, kaj unikaj vivspertoj — kiuj igas Usonon la plej riĉa, dinamika kaj noviga lando en la nuntempa mondo. La froto inter malsamaj ideoj ne estas detrua; ĝi estas la fajrero de kreemo.

La "Usona Eksperimento", por kiu niaj fondopatroj tiel kuraĝe batalis, ne postulas perfektan interkonsenton. Ĝi baziĝas sur la kredo, ke homoj el ĉiu angulo de la mondo, kun malsamaj historioj, povas kunvivi, labori kune, kaj krei ion senprecedencan. Tiu brila espero ankoraŭ forte vivas en niaj lokaj komunumoj hodiaŭ. Tial ni devas daŭre batali por ĝi.

Saluton, hodiaŭ mi lernis Esperanton dum kvindek tagoj.

La lingvo estas facila, sed mi havis problemojn kun mia gramatiko.

Mi ŝatas iri al la parko kaj lerni la lingvon kun miaj hundoj dum ili ludas. Mi volas lerni multon en la venontaj kvindek tagoj kaj mi revenos kiam estos cent tagoj.

Mi parolas la anglan kaj mi loĝas en Britio.

I look forward to learning a lot more and I did not expect it to be as easy as it was to start learning, as someone who also already speaks German and Irish I was expecting it to be difficult.

I am an esperantist of 2 years and have wanted to learn it since at least 2022.

The language in general just feels dead. Despite being the largest conlang ever and possibly forever, it doesn't feel like new content is being made.

ALL spoken conlangs inherently have this issue. There is only a low chance that Esperanto will be as popular or more popular in 100 years than it is now.

Books are less and less published in the language, some years around a whopping ONE THIRD of the amount that was published in the early 90s, websites are almost basic html and are prone to link rot, and people claim it's booming?!

I've seen more content in toki pona, a language published two and a half decades ago, with like 1/200th of esperanto's apparent speakerbase. It may just be the case of the internet being itself, but I literally considered dropping the language altogether.

Another thing is how the community gets perceived. I'm not going to sugarcoat it, it is 100% valid. Sorry if this hurts some feelings. A lot of esperantists ARE nutjobs. The misconceptions about the language don't justify any of it. Toki pona speakers also have a bit of a bad rep, but it can be chalked up as passionate, and which, they are, as you can see that community being a lot more artistic and, well, young.

I also live in a country with a high concentration of eo speakers, maybe even the highest, hell, if this is what you call "high" then the sahara desert is equivalent to tokyo. There are no clubs near me. None. And to begin to think that those that exist are filled with people 50 years older than me speaks volumes. I wonder what will be in 30 years.

I have a few books in the language lying around, but they're from the 70s and 80s. all feels so lonely and i feel like being an esperanto speaker means being trapped in the past. IAL, but very eurocentric, basically no government support (wink wink hungary and china), and what seems to be denying its own decline.

Want to know the only conlang that is saved from extinction in the next 100 years? Ogden's Basic English. It has more usage than esperanto in teaching it feels like. Hell, it's not even a real conlang. Just... English. You can communicate with 1,4 billion people with it.

Sorry if this sounds rage filled and is lowkey uncomfortable to read but the community needs a huge revamp to be seen as stuck in the past. Thanks for reading.

I just stumbled across an interesting article by Claude Piron, "Psychological Reactions to Esperanto" (PDF). The article is in English.

I am a mobile app developer who works on apps not even closely related to language learning, but I love Esperanto and the esperanto12.net website. The repository for the website data can be found here. I wanted my partner and I to learn Esperanto from a combo of Duolingo and esperanto12.net, but we found both tedious and tended to prefer how relatable the latter was to everyday interaction.

Basically, I turned the esperanto12.net website into a fully offline mobile app and added some additional learning tools for convenience, including the Esperanto Dictionary, flashcards, and some bells and whistles to the source material (like slower playback for lessons). I plan to add more material and learning tools, though not alter the original source material per CC BY-ND 4.0. I am treating the original 12 lessons like A1 and A2 level Esperanto, and I would really love to take it all the way to C2 one day.

Tell your non-Esperanto friends to try Parolejo on the Google Play store! The website for the app can also be found here. It is completely free to use and is in Beta (v0.5.0). I am looking for feedback or suggestions on how to keep expanding the material. Dankon al vi ĉiuj!

La celo estas helpi al homoj skribi tekstojn kiuj estas pli facilaj por komencantoj en Esperanto. La retejo montras ruĝe la vortojn kiuj ne estas konstrueblaj per la radikoj eksplicite instruataj de Duolingo. La retejo ankaŭ uzas la vortliston de uea.facila. Kune ili pli bone kovras la bazajn vortojn. Se grava radiko mankas al ambaŭ listoj, eblas aldoni ĝin mane.

Mi rimarkis mian eraron. Mi fakte volis skribi: "Kiel mi lernu Esperanton?"
