What if Israel sided with the Soviets instead of America in the Cold War?

A new althistory novel imagines a world where instead of siding with the USA, Israel takes aid from the Soviet Union and becomes a Communist satellite state. From the books description:

The year is 1948. After the refusal of the United States and its Western European allies to recognize Israeli independence, Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion sends a political rival of his on a secret mission: to secure Soviet backing in exchange for becoming a critical partner of Moscow. As a result, Israel becomes an extension of the Communist Bloc in the Levant and a menace to the US and its allies.

The Popular Front game is broken on Hard difficulty

I'm enjoying playing The Popular Front game but unfortunately it's not possible to play it on Hard difficulty. When dealing with the strikes, you can only choose 2 concessions to the unions, which is not enough to end the strike (no matter which 2 you choose). This causes the strike to continue, which causes business to lose confidence which then cause the Radicals to lose confidence and the coalition to collapse.

I've tried multiple variations but because you can't end the strike, the Popular Front always collpases, it's just a question of whether it's the Radicals, Communists or Senate that deals the final blow. Because the strike is literally the first issue that you must face when the Government forms, there's no option to do anything else.
