Cerner Users - help me out

So I've worked with Cerner for a while now so I know the basics, I have my dashboard pretty nice and custom dot phrases, but I can't help feeling like I'm taking the long way around for certain things.

Specifically I want to know:

  1. Is there a way to get my list to print like Epic can with the "blank" column for notes or custom columns like code status (instead of just the dumb default list where everything is condensed and all it has is rm, name, age, mrn whatever).

  2. Is there a view where I can see my entire list and their vitals in a column (vs having to always go into individual chart for vitals or other metric)?

  3. Is there a way to set up alerts for results? I get inbox crap on my outpatient rotations but I want something similar for inpatient.

  4. Is there some secret place in the EMR where I can find staff name/number/dept/extensions etc, or see who's active in the system recently? Doubtful but still asking, Vocera is useless except with RNs.

  5. I have a ton of my own basic dot phrases but how do I make ones that pull in labs? I have looked online for guides but nada. Is there a way to "see behind the curtain" of an existed templated note for the "code" so you can steal it like you can with Epic?

  6. Are there any other cool hacks or time savers you're aware of? Please share!

Thanks!

Do they tell us to request PTO in advance...

just so they know when to schedule us for rotations that don't allow PTO?

I genuinely wonder. Because it would be a bit of evil genius - get everyone to submit requests, put them on exactly the opposite, and now you're likely to have more coverage because you know no one has anything big planned in the rotations where they actually *could* take PTO.

RIP my next year working every major holiday and kids' days off school. 😕

Where to Send?

Requesting help from people who confidently know the answer to this question (I have already scoured the internet):

Regarding Section (2) on the "Request to Add Loans" form (https://studentaid.gov/sites/default/files/request-to-add-loans.pdf) - do I put Aidvantage (who processed my initial consolidation in the last 180 days) OR do I put Nelnet (the original servicer of my loans, and with whom I will be continuing service)?

Also, I only have one account number I'm seeing - so I put the code that begins with "E" I see in Nelnet. However, this is different than the 7-digit account number on the Aidvantage paperwork.

Any help greatly appreciated. I have the paperwork filled out to send via certified mail to Nelnet at PO Box 82561 in NE but I want to be sure.

Thanks!

Teen Rebellion

I didn't mind getting up to breastfeed through the night, or the tantrums, or the avoiding bedtime, or the spilling fingerpaint, or the not wanting to wear a jacket, or anything at all about years 0-12. They were a joy - every one, and every minute.

The teen years have been hell. Consistently. I am struggling. I am tired. I am alone at 1 AM on the toilet writing to strangers because I have no one else to talk to about it in my life that truly understands.

I am trying so hard to bring him up as a decent human being, and he seems determined to undermine that effort. It has just been us essentially since the beginning, and I used to think I'd be devastated when he left the house. Now I can't wait.

That is all. I don't need advice. I have 2 relevant degrees and I understand child psychology. I've read the books and listened to the podcasts. I know the right things to do and I do them. But all my effort to foster a *good person* has, at best, prevented him from becoming an overt criminal. I love him dearly. But I wish I liked him.

That fancy car is more expensive than the lifetime of therapy it screams that you need.

I often think this on the road when I see some sports car speeding through a school zone...the trophy wife in a G-wagon who doesn't pull over for the ambulance...or the 20-year-old frat boy in the lifted truck his parents bought him as a replacement for love, on my a$$, shining his brights in my eyes while I've got my kid in the car.

Night Shift / Blackout Blinds - Help?

Hi All,

Just moved and realized I can't put my old blackout curtains / rod holder / bracket thingies over these blinds (I can't put a picture but they are roughly 8 ft x 8 ft over a sliding glass door, with the big plastic thing on top coming roughly 6 inches off from the wall, and long vinyl vertical slats) - or can I (and how?)

Or is there an alternative product, like something that will easily stick on the windows?

Any suggestions welcome, thanks!

DMV - Walk-ins?

Hi All,

Do any of the local (or even further away, if they allow) DMVs accept walk-ins (this is just for updated address on my license)? I cannot wait for the appointment 45 days out I just made online (earliest they had). I'm willing to wait all day if necessary. Any tips appreciated, thanks!

Can you destroy your credit with inquiries alone?

Hypothetically. If you just kept applying for multiple things and getting hard inquiries - how many before you destroy your credit - or would it only impact it mildly? Is each one definitely 3-5 points or whatever, or can they cost any amount of points? And is it really even that you have to worry about, or are inquiries weighted separately elsewhere or what? Thanks!

What's Your Credit Situation?

Hello All,

I would like to hear from people who are already 3-10 years into PSLF, or have reached forgiveness - particularly for balances > $100K.

I have only student loan debt - and quite a bit (grad school). I have a PSLF-eligible job and have a handful of credits, and plan to complete the full 120 barring any major change of course.

Credit score 750+. No credit card debt. I have roughly $10K worth of open credit line utilization stays between 0-30%, always pay off quickly. No mortgage. I own my car. No late payments, never had a bankruptcy or lein or eviction or anything. I make near the median income and that will go up.

And yet I can't get a credit card. I tried 2 different ones (actually applied for 1 where CreditKarma say odds were "Outstanding" and just asked my bank to increase my limit by a very modest amount). Denials across the board.

Is this how it's going to be for the next 10 years? Is my debt-to-income ratio going to ruin my chances of expanding my credit or assets? I'd like to buy a house in the next 5 years but if I can't even get a credit card, I can't imagine I'll be able to secure a big asset.

TLDR: Did PSLF keep you in a horrible position credit-wise, or did you find a way around it or what?

Thanks!

$1000 to Park - Where?

Hi There,

I've been following a while and I'm learning a lot, but most are specific questions and I want to get even more basic:

If I have $1000 to do something with today (emergency fund is already in place), how do I get started? What app/bank/website do I go to? What documentation do I need? How do I watch my money grow? How do I add to it? How do I make it come straight out of my paycheck, or as a direct transfer from my bank?

I want something easy, automatic, low-risk, and hopefully with over 8% compound growth I see in these investment calculators? Or should part of it go to HYSA at 3-4% and part go to a higher return that I don't plan to touch for 25+ years? Either way it needs to be something I can make monthly deposits to easily. Convenience and accessibility will be my friend here.

I really have no idea how to get started. I'm really learning a lot but if I let myself say "I'm still learning," I'll never get started and time is a tickin'. Thanks!

Don't let booze sabotage you

Hello lovely community,

As someone who quit drinking long before I quit Zyns, I gotta say:

I watch a lotta folks on this subreddit relapse to nicotine when they drink - even if they may not have a drinking problem. And sometimes it's straight back to cigs instead of Zyns, which seems to me like taking 1000 steps back.

I think it would benefit anyone considering quitting nicotine to also cut booze for the length of time it will take them to really engrain the habit - say 90 - 180 days, and then be very careful re-introducing alcohol. It may help considerably.

Just a thought. Congrats to all my homies who made it nicotine-free today! 🥳

Water Purification Question

Hi All,

Few questions here:

  1. If these both have the same exact ingredients, what makes the PA+ different, if anything?

  2. Is there anything on the package or the bottle that can give me an idea of their manufacture or expiration date? I don't really see any stamps except Lot #.

  3. How long are they good for provided I can determine their age? Is it useless if expired, or can you just let the treatment sit longer or what?

Thanks for any help!

Hi All,

Okay so spilling the beans:

smoked cigs 8+ years >

vaped probably 10 >

switched to Zyns about a year ago >

used gum about a month >

have been nicotene-free roughly 6 weeks.

And I'm struggling!

I feel like I have totally replaced it with eating. I've gained 10 lbs already.

I am restless often. I feel like something's always "missing," and I'm more irritable.

I already have issues with focus and they've gotten worse.

I don't really know why I'm posting this but glad this community's here. I don't want to go back, my workplace has instituted a nicotene-free policy, and while that wasn't my reason, I don't want to trigger that.

How long does this last? Anything ya'll have found that helps?

Thanks for listening and any advice!

Re: Pinellas county schools, would like thoughts on:

A) Palm Harbor University High

B) East Lake High

C) Countryside High

I am not strictly looking for just ranking/performance - looking for something that matches my kid (mid-high performance, plays sports, in the band, interested in STEM, socially well-adapted but also sensitive and needs a safe environment, loves outdoors and will be walking/biking the area around the school).

Please only answer if you've had kids in these schools or attended yourself.

Thanks in advance!!

Oh I guess I can add a poll too but I would love actually commentary as well!
