Yemen - Hand Painted Printers Artwork

One of my most prized possessions. This is a pair of artworks (front and back are separate pieces) for a 1976 Yemen note that was never put into production. Large parts of the essay (another word for artwork of this type) are painted by hand, and each side is made from many layers of different pieces, cut out and pasted together by the artists at the printers.

Unique, and one of the most beautiful examples of printers artwork I have ever seen. Look at the level of detail!!

Zambia First Issue

This set is up there with my favourites from 'modern' Africa. Sadly, my set is far from uncirculated (they are all extremely fine) but that's still well above average and I love them anyway!

Netherlands series of 1877-85

I love these designs so much. I guess the 250 Gulden is one of the earliest vertical designs in the world?

(and yes, it should of course be 1977-85)

Royal Bank of Scotland low serial number set

My set of RBS current issues, all with matching serial numbers AA001727 - the year that the Royal Bank of Scotland was founded.

Absolutely beautiful series, particularly the reverses with Scottish wildlife.

Military Payment Certificates series 681

My complete set of series 681 of United States Military Payment Certificates. These were used in the Vietnam war between 1968 and 1969. This set is in uncirculated grade - the $20 was particularly tough to get hold of in this condition.

I am not from the United States but I love their military currency and I do have a complete collection of MPCs, and would be happy to post more if people find them interesting.

Unknown German tank (1943)

Hi everyone. I recently purchased a scarce booklet, published in 1943, called 'The Enemy'. It contains some amazing photos, most of which I've never seen anywhere else.

The one that has really confused me is the above. It's clearly not a Panther, and Panthers had not yet begun to appear (according to the booklet). The turret looks like a PzIV but the tracks and suspension are like nothing else I can find anywhere.

I'm sure one of you must have seen it before!

A Maltese note with a lovely hidden letter

I've had this in my collection of 'short snorters' for years, and could never understand a word of it. Recently someone pointed out the extremely obvious - it's English but written in reverse!

It reads:

"Owing to the fact that I am in a place that is not civilised enough to have valentine cards sweetheart, I must apologise for not being able to return the lovely one which you sent me. Love, FRED MALTA"

Clearly written to his sweetheart or wife during the Second World War. It's immediately become one of my favourite notes.

Dune Uprising tournament results and a bit of data

Hi everyone.

This Saturday I held the first significant tournament for Dune Uprising (base game only) that I am aware of in the UK. We ended up with 24 players, which was the perfect number for a four player game, and although four people dropped after two games, we still ended up with a small but significant sample size of 17 games. Firstly, thank you to all who came along - I had a great time watching you all play and I hope you all enjoyed it.

Given that the digital version is out in a couple of days I thought many of you might interested in a few of the findings so I've posted a couple of charts.

Bear in mind that players only had six leaders drafted in each game, so not all were available. The data still shows that Gurney and Fenring are clear winners, and that while Feyd may be popular, he doesn't convert this popularity into wins. Most players clearly prefer simple and reliable leaders over complex and perhaps risky ones. The winner, the only person to win all three games, played Gurney twice and Fenring once.

Regarding player order - it looks like going first is a good thing but going second is terrible, but I am reluctant to read too much into a small sample size in this way.

If you would like any more specific questions asked of the data, please let me know. I recorded VPs and all tie breakers as well.
