I just finished the story of D4 for the first time.

I managed to snag the base game on XBox for like $5 brand new. I've been playing these games since D1. I know the lore. I've read the Sin War books. I've been a fan for a very long time.

I was really disappointed in the whole thing. I knew coming in that Diablo wasn't going to be part of this game, but I didn't expect it to be so far and away from the the first three titles.

Aside from the fact that it was a battle between Lilith and Inarius, it felt like everything we were given from the first three titles was completely thrown away.

The cliffhanger at the end of Reaper of Souls suggested that Diablo was going take over Maltheal's body, and you'd have to essentially fight the first true angel/demon hybrid. Not a single mention of the Black Soulstone or Maltheal's whereabouts. And somehow all of the Prime Evils were shut away in Hell with their souls intact.

So, while Lilith is running around causing all of this mayhem, Tyrael, now the Aspect of Wisdom should be front and center of the conflict, aware that Lilith will use humans to fight on the side of Hell to win the Eternal Conflict against the angels. Yet, he doesn't make a single appearance.

He has just reinstated the Horadrim after the Nephalem killed Diablo, yet there are only two or three of them left during this story.

The Nephalem is never mentioned again, but without the Worldstone, there should be more of them within Sanctuary. That was the reason your character in D3 was supposed to be so powerful. Your character in D4 is just a wanderer. Even the characters you play in D2 got more backstory.

The only town you go through that's a callback to previous games was Caldeum, and it didn't hit a single nostalgia point because it was covered entirely in blood, as if the developers of the game listened to far too much Slayer.

The skill tree took a little while to understand. It just felt too convoluted at first, but I eventually got the hang of it.

As far as playing on XBox, the controls were more streamlined and easier to use than on D3, which was a plus.

I'm assuming that there will be at least two more expansions on top of the ones we already got, so I think I'm going to wait until they're all out before I make anymore purchases.

Like the title suggests, I thought that I have been progressive, and even more, capable of being an actual nice guy, not just one who is looking to get things out of people. It turns out that I have some work to do on myself.

I (36M) had this girlfriend (32) last year. For her safety, I'm just going to label her "A." She and I both have substance abuse problems, and we met in an AA meeting.

A and I hit it off with one another very quickly, and started dating very soon after. It was a relationship built on our sobriety, but most of it was trauma bonding. I started to realize, though, that there was something else different about her, which I started to piece together by looking up multiple medical websites, and it seemed A either had bipolar disorder or borderline personality disorder. A's behaviors were very erratic, she was incredibly paranoid, and she projected traits onto people that were simply untrue (including me, i.e., accusing me of being gay and using her as my beard).

I'm no doctor, and this was a very new relationship, so I didn't feel as though it were my place to have A get checked out. But there were a few more times which she accused different things about me, and broke things off without so much as a word. She stopped coming to meetings, broke her sobriety multiple times, and would show up every once in a while.

At one point while A and I were on speaking terms again, she finally revealed to me that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, but she refused the doctor's diagnosis. Her condition remains untreated to this day.

Never in those times did I ever want A to feel that she wasn't welcome when she did show up to meetings. I never stopped caring for her. I wanted to show her that she was safe and cared for in my presence at all times.

I tried again for the past couple of weeks to reconcile with her. Asking her to go out somewhere for us to talk. I was hoping that we could take the time to talk about what we would both want from one another to make this actually work. That leads us to today.

A told me point blank that she was too hot for me. And looks-wise, there's some truth to that. But I was hurt by that, especially when I tried everything in my power to be loving and respectful to her. I wanted a real relationship. One which we could be honest and caring and loving about all aspects.

Throughout the two weeks, she kept saying that all I wanted was sex. I would try to explain that sex in a relationship would probably happen, although I still wanted to take things slowly.

I was fed up with the accusations. I was angry that everything that I was saying kept falling on deaf ears. I knew that I should have walked away from her the moment she didn't take me seriously.

Instead of letting it go and walking away, I told her that she was a miserable fucking bitch who makes everyone she comes into contact with leave her behind.

In the moment, I felt empowered, having been constantly belittled by her and dodging all of my attempts to have one nice night together. But it also started to come to me that this was a defining moment. There's no way A would want me in her life at this point. I still tried to give a sincere apology, but it was too little too late. She told me to never contact her again, which is fair.

I contacted my sponsor right afterward. Regardless of any of the mistakes that she may have made with me, I am ultimately in charge of my own behaviors. It is up to me to correct those behaviors. I just wanted some guidance from him on how to do better next time.
