Is it worth to come back without dlcs?

I already completed the campaign without the DLCs some time ago, but I didn’t really play much of the endgame or do any serious gear grinding. After playing through a complete season of PoE2, I’m now tempted to get back into D4 and grind the endgame.

The thing is, I don’t own any of the dlcs, and I’m not planning on buying them anytime soon. Is Diablo 4 still worth playing without the DLCs?

My dad was a huge Diablo fan back in the day, and now he wants to try a different modern ARPG. What would you recommend?

Trying to solve a nice little problem and figured this was the right crowd. My dad was a proper Diablo devotee back in the day, thousands of hours across diablo 1 and 2. I remember sitting in his lap while he was farming bosses and how fascinating I found it as a kid. But he basically stopped gaming years ago and hasn't touched an ARPG (or any other video games) since, so he's completely missed everything since.

Now he's got the itch again. He saw me playing Dota 2 and asked me questions about it, which made me realize he thought it was an ARPG. After explaining to him that its not at all like Diablo he kind of admitted he misses playing stuff like that, but he also said he played wayyyy too much Diablo back in the day, and he explicitly doesn’t want to play something from that franchise (Which was my first suggestion naturally). I am not that into the genre personally, the only ones I really played were Last Epoch and Grim Dawn, pretty casually too, so I wouldn’t say I’m that knowledgeable. But I loved the SSF stuff in Last Epoch and the skill trees were really fun (customizing every skill). I’m not sure if my dad would be into that though.

I think he is looking for something really simple and close to Diablo 2. I know it would make the most sense for him to play resurrected or one of the newer Diablo games but he won't budge on it, says Diablo took too much time from his life already lol. So I’m basically looking for the game that is closest to what he is used to, so I’m asking here because I figure you guys would know best which game has the closest feel.

So that’s basically what I’m looking for. A simple ARPG that will feel somewhat familiar for someone who was a casual but dedicated player of Diablo ages ago. Thanks in advance for your help.

Diablo 2 Mod idea, how feasible is this?

My idea is : there would be an NPC in town (maybe an existing one) that would ask you things like "find any Charm from [insert monster-infested location here] in exchange for something I found". But really, that npc could ask for anything : a jewel, some belt, some sword, etc. The thing the npc asks for could be obtained from any monster/chest/pot/clickable in the area they mentioned. The possible reward when you get back to them with that thing in your inventory would be something like : 37% chance for a blue item, 26% chance for a white or ethereal, 25% for a rare, 5% chance for a random unique/set item, 4% chance for a stat point, 2% chance for a high rune, and 1% chance for a skill point. And you could pay a non-negligible quantity of gold to reroll that quest.

I'm asking because given how the original D2 code seems to be so well known at this point, I'm surprised such a mod doesn't already exist (at least I never saw anything like this for D2). It's fun to retread areas but it would really give an incentive, especially for that very rare skill point.

25 Days till Blizzcon......

25 days until Blizzcon, 25 days until people lose their mind on what they will see.

I won't be surprised if Grand Theft Auto 6 gets delayed again.

25 days until everyone buys a new computer to play the latest and the greatest from Blizzard.

25 days until StarCraft shooter reveal.

25 days until all those September games get postponed to 2027.

25 days until Diablo 2 Expansion reveal.

25 days until you call out for work for a whole month.

25 days until Diablo 1 Remake gets shadow dropped.

Diablo 2 Map. Where is Sescheron located?

I've been looking for information. I couldn't find where Sescheron is located in Diablo 2.

Is it in North, East, West, South of Arreat Summit or Harrogath?

Just posted my demo on Steam - Retro Japanese ARPG

Behold my superior gameplay recording capabilities! Lol

TLDR; Think of Sekiro in Diablo I world.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4534780/Ashikai/

I've been building my own ARPG for the best part of the last year but just now I got the guts to push a demo for the great public.

My first ARPG was Diablo I. I had an AMD 486 with 16mb of ram and I was happy. So after all this time I decided to build something myself and I'm having fun!

From the start I never tried to push for super graphics and I believe that shows, but if i wanted to build an ARPG that was like Diablo I, I'd play Diablo I instead... so, i did bring the second genre I like most: Souls like.

Download the demo, there's around 1 hour of gameplay or so.. and in case you do, come here to trash the game, trust me, your comment will help me make it better.

Thank you samurais!

How to play Diablo

What’s the best way to play the OG Diablo for a first time play through?

I’ve spent literal years playing Diablo 2 and enjoyed 3 and 4.

Open to running it raw or trying a QOL mod if it’s a better experience.

Best Diablo references in other media?

I'm struggling to remember, but another game I played recently definitely had the catchphrase: "Sit awhile and listen!"

It made me think of other places Diablo has cropped up in other media, as Easter Eggs and whatnot.

I'd appreciate it if you could share where you've seen a reference! Thanks so much!
