The growers in locked, stocked, and 2 smoking barrels (first couple of pics) are some of my favorite movie characters ever and wanting to find a movie about them, they’re not scary gang affiliated dealers just weird nerdy/hippie growers

Benjamin Briggs and his wife, family, and crew abandoned the Mary Celeste before the ship was found empty as it approached the strait of Gibraltar, Captain Briggs reached the rank of Maritime Master and was a revered, stalwart, and composed captain which is why so many were confused by the intact but empty ship.

No one knows why the ship was mysteriously abandoned but the running theory is that during a storm, the crew took shelter below deck for days where one of the barrels of industrial grade alcohol was either opened intentionally or accidentally and the fumes caused poison like effects and hallucinations that grew by the day.

I need a Robert Eggers lighthouse like retelling of this where a stalwart and sober Leo as Captain Briggs descends into a surreal Lighthouse-esque panic and madness that leads to the abandonment of the ship. Throw in some sea shanties, drunk soliloquies, cute family moments that turn traumatic and some deeply religious and philosophical soliloquies and I think there’s a fantastic movie here
