Intel Claws are Finally Cooking with Gas in Linux (7.2 Kernel + Mesa 26.2.0)

I'm running CachyOS 7.2-rc7 on my MSI Claw 8 EX, and it absolutely rips after the latest driver updates. I've benchmarked a dozen DX11/12 games and the performance difference is night and day, so much that I've finally retired Windows as the primary gaming partition.

It takes a bit of work to get everything working 100%, but my fixes, a few of which are cherry-picked from Valve, are below incase you want to give it a try.

Engineering guide is also below for reference by the Linux developers in the community to hopefully speed up durable fixes.

Fix Links:

  • Audio: Restores the internal speakers and microphone.
  • Platform controls: Exposes TDP limits, performance profiles, fan curves, fan speeds, and the battery charge limit.
  • GameScope/MangoHud telemetry: Corrects battery draw, CPU/GPU power, shared-memory VRAM, fan speeds, and CPU/GPU temperatures.

I just can’t do windows (Claw 8 EX AI +)

Love the look, performance, ergonomics and battery life, but it’s been a hard pill to swallow coming from SteamOS running pristine on a Legion Go 2.

Anyone else experiencing this?

SteamOS Running on MSI Claw 8 AI + (A2VM)

Setup:
- Update to the latest firmware in Windows
- Download and flash 3.8.5 OOBE repair image
- Disable secure boot in bios
- Boot / install via repair image
- Update to main / beta for 3.9 which packages a few mesa driver improvements

Working:
- Most games (a few sub-optimally)
- Sleep / Wakeup
- Bluetooth
- WiFi
- Brightness Controls
- Audio

Not Working:
- TDP Slider
- Controller Inputs (I had to cherry pick an upcoming inputplumber PR that fixes device recognition)

Other Observations:
Optiscaler is working and kicks ass. There are some serious performance / compatibility improvements in the pipeline with Steam OS 3.9 and beyond via community driver work. Noticed a few contributions from both the Intel and ARM engineering teams in the commit history. Makes sense with the viability of Panther Lake as a first class mobile platform.

Running 400 mg Test C + 200 mg Primo E per week.

Results are good, but Primo is getting expensive.

Looking for a more cost-effective stack for an aggressive recomp.

Options I’m considering:

  1. Keep running 400 Test C + 200 Primo E

  2. Drop to 250 Test C + 75 Tren E weekly

  3. 300 Test E + 125 Primo E + 75 Tren E weekly

Goal: Maximize strength, muscle fullness, and fat loss while keeping sides under control.

how do these compare on risk/reward? Especially interested in cost efficiency, impact on lipids, sleep, blood pressure, and estrogen management.
