Recipe for Almira Gulch-core: a pinch of Edwardian, a dash of spooky, a heapin' helpin' of velvet, and a LOT of hat.

Head to toe vintage/thrifted. '90s Vivienne Tam jacket, 2010's L'Wren Scott blouse, '90s Evan Picone skirt, modern Zara boots. The label on the hat looks '90s, but I'm not sure. I went to the grocery store in this getup and they didn't bat an eye, because they are used to my daily sartorial insanity.

My 28-year-old son, Tino the cherry-headed conure. He is my only child, my only pet, and the love of my life. He's elderly and has health issues; every day we have together is a blessing.

My 28-year-old son has a big beak for his size, so when he faces forward, he's all beak. It is useful for ripping human flesh and devouring bananas and cashews, so we deal.

Tino the millennial falcon is a cherry-headed conure who I adopted from a rescue 23 years ago. His age is an educated guess - the youngest he could be is 26; I don't think he's much over 30. Large parrots can live 60 years; Tino is a little guy, so we're in the stage where he's a senior citizen with special needs, and every day is a blessing. But don't tell him that - in his mind, he is Tinosaurus Rex, immortal destroyer of worlds.

NBA fan here. As of tonight, the Danhausen curse is 16-0. No team has won a game after being cursed, and that now includes the Canes.

For the uninitiated, Danhausen is a goofy WWE ghoul who curses his opponents. He's a comedy wrestler in corpse paint; his character is basically the Ferengi of the WWE, a profit-driven chaos gremlin who can be paid to curse people, or un-curse them. He's taken to cursing sports teams, and it's yielded wildly successful results.

The NBA story so far: ESPN talking head/Knicks superfan Stephen A. Smith was rude to Danhausen; in retaliation, Danhausen cursed the Knicks, who then lost 2 consecutive games to the lowly Atlanta Hawks, who they were supposed to beat easily. A panicked Knicks fan paid Danhausen via Cameo to un-curse the Knicks, so he did...and the Knicks haven't lost a game since.

They won the next 3 games against the Hawks, swept the next 2 rounds, and are now up 2-0 in the Finals. Their playoff winning streak is now the second longest in NBA history. They invited Danhausen to Madison Square Garden, and he's been a repeat guest on ESPN NBA coverage. Fans say if New York wins a chip, he should get a key to the city. He's like Grimace for the Mets a few years back, or that octopus who predicted the World Cup: the unlikely mascot of an historic playoff run.

Last night, a VGK fan paid Danhausen via Cameo to curse the Hurricanes, and he obliged. And VGK won. Idk if it's kayfabe gone off the rails or the ancient chaos magic of the old gods - either way, if y'all win a chip, you MUST get Danhausen's face onto the Sphere.

My mom knitted this sweater for me! She's been working on it for months, and I LOVE it. It goes perfectly with my ridiculous wardrobe, and it is so soft. I have the coolest, most talented mom ever. Second pic: closeup so you can see the beautiful yarn.
