[22/NB] Looking to share emails and friendship

Hi, I'm 22 from LatinAmerica, Chile. I'm looking to share with someone who would like to become long-term emailing friends.

I'm looking to send long emails talking about the current day, current interests, maybe like books or movies, etc. I'm not a very social person, so I would like to get to know different people and their opinions on things and share in general!

I'm really into shoujo and josei manga and the philosophical view of the everyday life. I'm currently reading Steppenwolf by Hermann Hesse and No One Writes Back by Jang Eun-jin; I also started reading Hidamari Sketch the other night and I am considering and taking back on Papa Told Me by Nanae Haruno, which I read until volume 5 :'-)

I'm also very interested in art and journaling, I'm taking an interest on logging the everyday life but I haven't got to that yet. I own 2 dogs and 2 cats whom I love dearly and I hope for the future to always get better.

My main language is Spanish, so if anyone is interested in sharing different languages mails I would gladly do that too! I'm interested in learning German, French, Portuguese and Japanese, and of course, improve my English writing skills!

I'm Queer, so I would prefer someone in the LGBTQ+ community as well, I think maybe that way we could understand a little bit more about each other, and around my age 18-30 would be awesome!

I plan on sending mails once or twice a week, but I don't really mind long waiting, just to get a response back eventually ^^

I want to learn about the everyday life and deep thoughts of people around the world :-) If you're interested in starting an email friendship please send me a DM with something about yourself!

Almost done w/ my $0.99 notebook

I bought this tiny notebook at a chinese store in my country, 990 chilean pesos, and it has been wonderful. Is kinda a commonplace book for me? Not too sure what to say about it but that it has been so comfortable to use, when I finish it I really want to get the same one again!

My cover and post it index.

People don’t want to learn html + css (rant)

(This is mostly a rant, I wanted to shared some opinions and hopefully some useful advice for people younger than me or the people that are still learning / actually want to learn).

I got interested on web design at the beginning of covid and started making a site, updated the theme about 6-8 times, learned a lot only reading online, searching how to make the stuff i wanted, tried, tried and tried.

I wasn’t an expert, I was 16 just getting to know what html and css were, i even learned a little bit of javascript because i wanted to do so much stuff.

I feel like some kids here or maybe more grown up people, I don’t want to assume, read a little, have some vague idea they want to make a website, not knowing what they really want to share.

First, I think it’s okay to want to make something only because you think it looks nice, but it bothers me how most of the people that post here just want things the easy way.

I’m very anti-AI, generative AI specifically, I actually got to study computer science because I liked making sites, I understand AI use is almost inevitable nowdays but My God, stop generating code that you don’t know how it works!!! Please I beg, I’ve been navigating through new sites and most of them have that “guide” text with emojis that AI gives.

I believe that the idea of the indie web is more about sharing your interests and love for art, or love for whatever your want to share. I don’t get that love from AI generated code, if you didn’t bother to learn how to make your own things, why would I bother to navigate your site?

Many have said here before, and actually I may even go further with it, W3SCHOOLS taught me EVERYTHING and Stack Overflow is better for asking more specific questions, almost like here? But questions that actually serve a purpose, not “How do I make this layout I drew?” which isn’t a bad question, just be more specific but you can’t be specific if you don’t understand the basics, right?

My site is awful as it is right now, I’m no expert like I said, but learn by at least reading other site’s code, not copying, but reading it, try using it for your own site, move things around, not just “I like this, I copy it into my site”, that won’t help you and it’s just awful to do in general, unless stated by the own webmaster.

if anyone interested and have read all this, my old site is danppun.neocities.org i wouldn’t recommend watching since it’s pretty broken since last time i updated on 2023 or so, I’m making a new layout and relearning basic html+css+javascript since I haven’t touched that language in a while, almost 2 years lol

Sharing the sketch I made for my new layout that I’m actually writing on VS code too, mostly to share the creative before the coding.

Thanks if you read, I don’t want to share bad words, just please be your own, be inspired, make things with love and patience, and even if your site isn’t the most beautiful/perfect, is your own and YOU made it, you coded it and it’s full of you.

Any recs where I can be an animal

Hello, this is my first post here, I’ve been playing solorpg for about 2 months now and I’ve been enjoying myself a lot ^_^ I like dungeon crawlers and some gamebooks as in decision taking and so.

As for the title of the post, I really want to try a game where I can be an animal or the character HAS to be an animal, but not just in the way ‘A “human” game where I can imagine to be an animal and everything’s the same’, I want it to be specifically about me being an animal lol, preferibly if it comes with interesing mechanics.

I’m planning on playing Fox Curio’s Floating Boat soon, but I haven’t tried any journaling game yet and I’m not sure I’m made for that, but any suggestion, if you have one, is very welcome, thank you in advance!

Looking for padded/light headphones for sensitive ears

Hello! I need some help and advice getting a new pair of headphones for myself, mainly for daily use, so nothing extremely fancy, my budget is around $40 max.

I want to use it with an old Sony walkman mp3 that I own (so they need to be cabled) and also for my computer, gaming, watching videos and listen to music too, I don't listen to anything fancy either, I just want them to sound good and be comfortable.

My main issue is that I have really sensitive ears, I use my earbuds from time to time but never for more than 1 hour, and the headphones I use right now (Sony ZX110AP) also hurt my ears and the top of my head, that's why I want to change them.

I would like a design that's not heavy nor tight on the head/ears and that has the headband padded, I think that's what I want the most… If they can be a mini/tiny design, over-ear, that would be ideal, but I don't know how much I can fantazise.

If anyone could help me find designs that fits these characteristics I would appreciate it a lot, I don't know a lot about headphones so I was hoping to find some answers in other's posts but couldn't find excatly what I was looking for.

Thanks in advance ^_^

Lowering screentime as a content creator

Hello, I’ve heard from this reddit from a video about old internet media, but I did know about it’s existence before, I just hadn’t check.

My problem, I guess I’ve been addicted to social media like the people from here, I always go with a plan to reduce my time using social media as much as possible, I uninstalled twitter like a week ago for example, but instagram is a Huge problem for me.

Almost all my friends use instagram, I think it’s common to share memes, talk from time to time, but my main reason for not quitting instagram at all is because I own an art account, and I can’t (or I don’t want) to abandon it.

Reels make me sick, I’m so addicted and I feel awful because when I feel bad it relieves me, and I Hate That, that makes me feel even more sick. As you can see, my average screentime isn’t that bad, but just looking at how much time I’m in instagram it just falls down, everything.

I just wanted to know, for the people who create content in instagram and use it as a main app for communicating with friends/family, how do you manage?
