I got the return and filmed it, the perfume itself doesn't seem to be switched (I think) but the base was definitely either not the base I sent it out with or was severely dirtied before being returned. There was a strange orange liquid inside, and the bottom was much dirtier than the brand new one I sent out (which was spotless).

I'm wondering if she bought my perfume just to switch out the base and return the perfume, but since the perfume itself doesn't seem to be fake, should I still try to open a ticket with Mercari? I don't have photos of what the base looked like before, so I think it might fuck up my chances of proving it wasn't like this when I sent it out.

It finally happened.. a return was requested citing "authenticity concerns," but I got this perfume from an authorized retailer. If it IS inauthentic, I wouldn't have known myself (it smelled exactly like it did in the store). She also took pictures of the bottle next to a bottle of the same perfume that she already had, and it was a different color, but we all know perfumes change color with time especially when there's ingredients like vanillin.

Should I reach out to the buyer and explain the situation? Or should I just let her go through with the return? I've never had to process a return on Mercari before so I have no idea what needs to happen. I'm just a little concerned that she might be trying to get a refund because she bought a dupe and is trying to foist it on me.

I keep seeing conflicting and/or vague reviews regarding the smell. Does it smell anything like how CND Solar Oil smells (the OG formulation)? If not, what does it smell like to you?
