are we actually developing good young footballers in Bhutan

Genuine question: why does every 16–17-year-old footballer’s Instagram look like they’ve already won the World Cup? 😭 One decent touch, one goal, and suddenly there are 47 highlight videos, professional-looking edits, and captions like they’re destined for Europe.

Then they travel for tournaments, come back with a 0–19 goal difference, and somehow the Instagram highlights are still undefeated 💀

I’m not saying nobody here can play. Obviously there are talented young players. But sometimes it feels like the social-media footballer is more common than the actual footballer. Training, improving, and playing consistently should matter more than posting thirst traps, club photos, and the same three football clips every week

And honestly, the girls’ teams deserve credit too. They’re out there actually competing, winning, putting in the work. Meanwhile some of these boys post one decent football clip and act like they’ve already been signed by Real Madrid

Bhutan feels like it’s facing one of its biggest social and economic challenges in recent history.

Lately, it feels like we’re seeing more and more signs that something isn’t right. Young people are leaving the country in large numbers, many graduates struggle to find opportunities they are satisfied with, and there seems to be growing frustration about the future. At the same time, social media is filled with reports of bullying, violence, substance abuse, and other troubling incidents involving youth.

Recently, I came across a video showing students being physically assaulted while dozens of others stood by and watched. Whether it’s an isolated incident or not, it raises an important question: what kind of culture are we creating when violence becomes something people record instead of stop?

Bhutan is still a beautiful country with strong values, a rich culture, and many good people. But loving our country also means being honest about its problems. Ignoring issues won’t make them disappear. We need better opportunities for young people, stronger support systems in schools, more accountability, and more conversations about the challenges our society is facing

Verbally abused

I’ve always been verbally abused by my family but it has recently gotten to a point where I’m at my breaking point

I’ve recently failed a grade because of maths by 3 marks and have to repeat the whole damn process again

Because of this they’ve been always using it against me for every little mistake I make

They think they are helping me but instead they’re adding more salt to my wound

Yes I’ve failed but I’ve gotten a second chance to fix it but they make it seem like I’m the dumbest useless person alive because I failed one subject

Plus on top of that idk what I’m doing wrong I don’t even go out much or do drugs or anything

One mistake I make they always make me the punching bag and verbally abuse me

all I ask for is some kind words from them

On top of that they think being “sad” or “depressed” is a taboo and non existent(all in ur head)

I can’t even have a bad day without them calling me ungrateful

And I can’t even express my emotions or even defend myself in situations where I’m the victim or I will either get beaten up or get called names and verbally abused

Yes I appreciate everything you’ve done for me till now but that doesn’t mean I can’t have freedom and have to suppress all my emotions
