Digivolving Lego Monodramon to Justimon by myself

Thank you for the support for my previous builds! Up next is #004 Digivolving Spirits Monodramon to Justimon!

About the build: This is the MOC that started this series! I initially built a non-transforming Justimon as he was one of my fav designs in the anime. While tinkering with it I thought "Hmm I'm sure if I tried, I could make the arms transform into claws for Monodramon". I then realised I could use a similar method to turn Justimon's red scarf into Monodramon's legs. I enjoyed it so much I decided to go all the way and make the rest of the cast too!

As a kid I loved my knockoff Bandai Justimon toy that transformed to Cyberdramon, but I was always more impressed with toys following the idea of 'cute > cool' or 'Child/Rookie > Ultimate/Mega'.

I was stuck on what to use for Justimon's distinctive smooth head until the official Lego Optimus released and I saw the faceplate part! Looking at my DC Captain Boomerang minifig one day, it also struck me that boomerangs would work for Justimon's ears.

This is the fourth of six figures I've already built for Tamers. Thank you for the support so far and please stay tuned! Up next is Lopmon > Andiramon! If you're interested you can follow my Instagram @ikkakubricks

Lego Digivolving Renamon to Sakuyamon by myself!

Rounding out the main trio, here's #003 Digivolving Spirits Renamon to Sakuyamon!

About the build:
Compared to the first two, the transformation between Renamon and Sakuyamon may seem simpler as it goes from humanoid fox to fox-like human. However, they both have very distinct colours and proportions so it was hard to decide which mode to sacrifice. The original Bandai toy also had trouble with this as Renamon's entire arms were left black for a better Sakuyamon. I chose to go for a similar route but still did my best to balance the colours of both modes.

By swiveling only half of the body and making Renamon's head and chest a 'cover' on another swivel, I managed to change most of the colours between modes. Overall, it's still my least favourite of my six Tamers builds.

Two parts are newly introduced: Renamon's shoulder fur was introduced in the new Snoopy set, while the white ear points were introduced in the new Pokemon line. When I saw those pieces I knew they were perfect and had to redo my build to incorporate them!

This is the third of six figures I've already built for Tamers, which I'll be posting gradually. Thank you for the support so far and please stay tuned!

Digivolving Spirits LEGO Guilmon to Dukemon by myself

Thank you for supporting my earlier Terriermon build! Here is my second Lego build for Tamers: #002 Digivolving Spirits Guilmon to Dukemon (Gallantmon)

About the build: I remember seeing a knockoff version of the original warp Digivolving toy at a store when I was ~7 years old and really wanting it. As an adult I discovered there were two versions of the toy- US and Japan. Both are admirable in their own right. My real inspiration though, is the cancelled Digivolving Spirits figure that Bandai showed off. I first figured out a decent way to turn Guilmon's claws into Dukemon's shoulder pads, but it hindered the articulation of both modes so I scrapped it. My main focus was to capture the anime proportions of both modes without sacrificing either.

Unlike Terriermon, Dukemon has a natural solution for the kibble (in the cape, like the cancelled figure did) so I did my best to turn the Guilmon parts into an acceptable 'cape'. I decided not to include the weapons as I didn't want to leave any unused parts for Guilmon mode.

This is the second of six figures I've already built for Tamers, which I'll be posting gradually. Thank you for the support so far and please stay tuned! If you like this, you can follow me at @ikkakubricks

Digivolving Spirits LEGO Terriermon by myself!

Like many of us here, I grew up with the original Bandai digivolving figures and was ecstatic when they revived it with the high-end Digivolving Spirits line in 2017. The Guilmon they teased was my most anticipated so I was devastated when the line was cancelled.

As a lifelong Lego and Transformers fan, I decided to take matters into my own hands and make my own Digivolving Spirits line! Also inspired by third party legends scale figures, I decided to make them smaller than the original Bandai figures to minimise parts usage and shelf space. So without further ado, please enjoy my first figure: #001 Digivolving Spirits Terriermon to SaintGalgomon (MegaGargomon)

About the build:
Tamers is my favourite series and Terriermon is my favourite child level so I decided to post this first. I never owned the original warp Digivolving toy but have watched videos of the toy countless times. I admire the ambition but never liked the idea of using ears in both modes as it resulted in the wrong proportions for Terriermon. After many days of brainstorming I realised I could flip the body and make Terriermon's ears into SaintGalgomon's legs. With that base, everything else fell into place quickly.

Finding the right part for Terriermon's nose was a real puzzle but I eventually found that there was a printed 1x1 plate with a small black square, so I built the face around that part using lots of SNOT techniques. Quite satisfied with the result!

Naturally, the figure has lots of kibble (backpack of other mode parts) but I think it's hard to avoid as the design doesn't have any shared parts, or even shared colours! Anyway, some of my favourite Bandai figures had horrendous kibble (looking at you, Justimon)!

This is the first of six figures I've already built for Tamers, which I'll be posting gradually. Up next is Savers!
