HELP, I have inherited my grandfathers Computer stuff and I don't know what do with all these floppies!

JK! I know what I have to do, but I don't know if I have the strength to do it.

I have never even seen a floppy disc in my life before, but as I type here, in my closet there is a bookshelf filled with Diskettes. I am estimating it be 400+ and im not even sure I got everything. There is quite possibly a Diskette in there of every size, format, and style.

Good news is all of these have been kept in an environment that never got crazy temps, I have every reason to believe that the vast majority can have the data recovered easily. bonus good news, in the hoard I did manage to find the hardware I will need to recover the data on all these. Although I fear the one 5.25 drive may not be one I can use for every type of 5.25.

I have been doing some research and I believe I have a plan. I can use these so called Greasweazel and Cryolux devices to get even better reads of the data. Now given that there are so many of these would like to get it done in bulk. My hope is to get some kind of shell program that will automate the dd command in the linux terminal to alleviate the labor.

Do I have a flaw in my plan? I feel like I am in way over my head to attempt this kind of data recovery. And this is not the only one storage format I have to tackle. There is more stuff, and I am not talking hard drives.

Proton really just runs anything, huh?

Gave up trying to run plutonium properly with wine said "fuck it" let's see if steam will launch it. It ran. So curiosity gets the better of me and I decided to test this SpongeBob game that was very buggy running on wine. it works flawlessly. All the problems it had running on wine just gone.

I just want to play MW2 again.

This post isn't about MW2, but about the current state of competitive shooters.

About once a year I get an insane itch to play COD or something of it's nature.
Problem: I have been boycotting cod with my wallet since after Advanced Warfare due to quality dropping. ya'll called BO7 slop? Dawg, COD has been slop for over a decade. But that isn't my point. There is no alternative.

Constant game updates on top of system updates that would take forever just for it to be a whole new season, new content and cosmetics that I will never get to use. By the time everything is said and done. I get to play maybe one match before packing it up for bed, and flail around like a noob because they changed some mechanics for balance.

limited time content, loot boxes with low reward rates for my 'sense of pride and accomplishment', and some fake ass currency to buy clown skins.

God I remember Destiny. Every time a new DLC came out I got locked out of the competitive modes, no idea why. so I bought them with the promise that they would expand on the "story" and to keep playing with friends. I do not look back on that game positively.

Fortnite, Destiny, Overwatch, Battlefront 2. Just not fucking playable. Except DOOM 2016, that was pretty good.

MW2 didn't do any of that. You could just pop in and play some matches while some squeaker says hes fucking my mom. When MW2 released a new DLC I didn't get locked out of the online modes,it just made lobbies for the people who did have it. It didn't try to entice me with limited time events and to purchase seasons for the privilege of earning meaningless crap, or spend thousands on loot boxes. No update every time I turned it on. And the only time something was balanced was when something was REALLY broken. You could even earn all the meaningless crap without spending money.

That's all I want.
