Installing wool carpet upstairs. 2 rooms roughly totalling 14.5m². 11mm underlay - £150. Been quoted £593 for materials and £113 for fitting.

Does this seem reasonable? Carpet is Kersaint Cobb Pampas Berber Loop 87.

We bid for our house in January 2025, moved in in July. The housing market felt mental when we were looking, places going over asking, bidding wars, slim pickings at our price range. Now, it seems there's ample choice for people in our affordability bracket.

My question is, is this the natural ebb and flow of the housing market? It's not something I've taken great interest in but naturally have started taking more notice of. Ultimately, we won't be here forever and do want to naturally progress in 4-5 years. I'm not interested in sitting on an exploding asset, but the prospect of negative equity is a bit concerning.

We just painted our bathroom over the weekend. On Sunday, my partner lit an incense while the walls were drying. There has been a persistent smell of smokey incense since. The bathroom only has an extractor fan with no windows, so limited fresh air. Is there a chance the smell got trapped in the wet paint? Or is this just normal for smoke in a room with minimal ventilation.
