Warning: Beverly Hills Maybourne hotel lobby bar

I’m posting here because I emailed the bar manager and the general customer service email for the hotel with no response.

Last Friday, I went to this bar (I was staying at the Peninsula, I was traveling and that’s why I’m posting here) with friends before our dinner reservation at their rooftop restaurant. I’m older and couldn’t even see the menu with my reading glasses. The bar was dimly lit.

We ordered 2 cocktails and one mocktail. We asked for the bill. The bartender (who was not our server) brought the payment machine up, the screen just said the total and the tip options of 5%, 10%, custom. IKIK Im an idiot for not asking why the top options were low, but we were late for our dinner reservations which we had alerted our server about. Me being nice added 20%. The total came out to $125 for 3 drinks. I was probably already buzzed so my thinking wasn’t clear.

At the restaurant, our server kindly informed us that 20% was automatically added to our bill for gratuity.

It dawned on me that the bartender didn’t tell me or correct me. I wrote an email explaining all this to the bar manager and customer service. No response.

I’m prob the idiot here but just thought I’d warn people.

Lemon blueberry scones

I’ve had scones in my mind for a while. I live in a rural area and the only place to get scones is at Starbucks. I was on the KAB website last Friday and there was a promotion that I fell for and I ended up ordering 6 scone mixes, the mini scone pan, dog biscuit pan, English muffin rings, etc.

I don’t usually use mixes because scones are easy but that being said I didn’t have to zest or go to the store for more blueberries. I had a handful of fresh blueberries and added them to the mix.

I’m disappointed they’re not crispy or browned all around but I fixed that by toasting them upside down. (Pic 3)

Just posting in hopes an FA or employee sees this post. I flew on Alaska flight 259 RNO-PDX on Friday, May 1 and forgot a homemade graduation banner that I made for my son Kobe. I would love to get it back. I didn’t take a picture of it. It took me a couple of tries and I stayed up until 2am to make it. It wasn’t even finished yet. So somebody might have thrown it out but he does want it. I made one for my other son last year and they liked it.
