What happens if Burnham loses the Makerfield byelection?

What happens if Burnham wins the labour candidacy for the upcoming Makerfield byelection but he loses the byelection itself?

Here’s the 5 scenarios I’m curious about:

1: Minor reform win (Reform UK takes the seat by a small margin)

2: Big reform win (Reform UK takes the seat by a large margin)

3: Minor Green win (the Green Party takes the seat by a small margin)

4: Big Green win (the Green Party takes the seat by a large margin)

5: Tory or Lib Dem win (unlikely but I’m including for the sake of discussion

Wha would each of these scenarios mean for Burnham, the Labour Party, Starmer and the UK as a whole?
