Is it possible to transfer from Santa Monica College to a UC in 1–2 years without my parents knowing?

I'm in a really difficult situation and could use some advice.

There's a chance I may get rescinded from UCSD, and I can't let my parents find out. They would probably kick me out and disown me.

My current plan is to attend Santa Monica College and transfer to a UC within 1–2 years. Is that realistic if I work hard, complete my requirements? Has anyone here transferred from SMC to a UC that quickly?

I'm also trying to figure out housing. I'm considering moving my belongings into a storage unit and renting a room near SMC. I've already been stocking up on basic necessities like toothpaste, shampoo and etc so I have some supplies ready. I do have a decent amount of savings around 5000 ish.

For anyone who's been in a similar situation:

  • How did you find affordable housing near SMC?
  • Is renting a room the best option?
  • How much should I budget each month?

Will a D in AP Calc AB get me rescinded from UCSD? How do I report it?

Hey everyone, I’m kinda freaking out right now and wanted to ask if anyone has been in a similar situation.

I was admitted for Fall 2026, but I currently have a 65% in AP Calc AB, which is a D at my school. I honestly don’t think I can get it up anymore because I bombed a few major exams and my teacher doesn’t allow retakes. Every other classes are fine, but calc has completely destroyed me this semester. I did get a B last semster.

I know the UC conditions say no grades below a C senior year, so I’m scared this could get my admission rescinded. I’m planning to report it ASAP instead of hiding it, but I have no idea how the process works or where do I even report it.

Has anyone here gotten a D senior year and still kept their admission to UCSD or another UC?

should I cc or go to ucsd? (premed)

I got into ucsd as a Biological Sciences major in Muir College. My cost would be around 10k a year, and money honestly is not the issue; I am willing to pay it.

But I’m conflicted because I got waitlisted at ucla, which was my dream school for years. I have no hope at this point. I feel very disappointed in myself and I let my parents down and like maybe I should just go to CC and try transferring later?

For people who were premed at UCSD or did CC transfer, what would you do in my situation? Do yall have any regrets?
