His set up has changed a lot since I've been learning proper care. Some of the photos are of him in his temporary tank until I got my arborial tank.
Our store manager had us move our only chinchilla to our back wellness room. I feel this setup is so cringe... All this to get 8 guinea pigs for the damn Piggy Cup Petco is advertising.

So, I'm a current Petco partner and I'm the opening CAL. Today during my morning checks on reptiles, I had the sad misfortune of finding one of our land tortoises had died during the night. I found him wedged between the wall of the tank and his water dish.
I pulled him and then proceeded to go ask my store manager if we can put anything else in the tank. He looks at me like I grew a second head.
"What do you mean it's dead!? That was a $300 dollar animal!!"
I looked at him surprised. More worried about the dollar amount? Wow. I told him that we need to be doing closing checks on all animals. Then he goes and starts pointing out all the tanks with poor or too high humidity. Like dude, I wasn't trained on how to set the temps. I trust my managers would help out but FUCK NO THEY DON'T.
I feel like I'm gonna have to go to battle for these animals. Fuck corporate but I'll be damned if I abandon these animals. Shame on the leaders that do have power to change standards. Would any of you want to live in shitty conditions? I'm thinking not.
