Is it possible to submit the moving-out notification form AFTER I move out if I’m moving overseas?

Just say I move out on the 1st of September, but my flight home is on the 16th of September, can I wait a single day to submit the form (転出届) so that I have time to get home? (because you have to leave within fourteen days once you submit.)

Or do i have to submit the form before I move out?

How hard is it to read Harry Potter?

Say I get through the core 2k Anki deck and n3 on Bunpro, how hard would it be to read the first Harry Potter book? Would it even be possible?

The entirety of Yuri on Ice is available for free on YouTube.

This anime probably isn't for everybody but it's one of the few I’ve seen that’s completely available for free.

Includes auto-generated subtitles and though they aren't perfect they're still helpful.

How to deal with getting languages mixed up/second language deteriorating learning the third?

My native language is English, and about five years ago I probably had a low B2 level in Spanish but then completely stopped interacting with the language.

About two years ago I started learning Japanese and at the start it was IMPOSSIBLE to try to speak it without Spanish coming out instead, but then around the 1.5 year point I started feeling this weird tug of war between the two languages in my head.

At that point I had a conversation with a Spanish speaker for the first time in ages and while I could still speak it took significantly longer for me to parse through my brain and find the right words.

Now it’s gone the opposite, I can speak perfectly fine in Japanese, very rarely Spanish coming to me. Spanish on the other hand… Japanese is constantly at the forefront. When I try to speak it it takes me FOREVER to find the right words and even when I do i keep saying things like そう and あの(ano if you don’t know, which is um in Japanese but means something else completely in Spanish 😅)

It doesn’t help that both languages at least surface level sound quite similar so I’ll be speaking Spanish and instead of saying pero I’ll say kedo without noticing.

I’ve started listening to Spanish again to try to counter this but is there anything else I can do? Does anyone else have experience with these two languages in particular?

And if I start focusing on Spanish again will my brain eventually form a Spanish brain and a Japanese brain? Or will I always be confusing the two?
Would it be bad to try to focus on Spanish now/would it impact my Japanese?

Super smutty jp recs?

I'll be honest, I'm not looking for much plot (unless the plot serves to lead to more smut).
Just a LOT of smut

Examples of what I'm looking for is:
- I Reincarnated as the Villain in an E*oge, But Before I Realized, I Became a Capture Target
- Seduction *Strategy

Though I'd honestly prefer if there was more smut than these examples if that's even possible haha

And I would prefer Japanese novels/light novels. I can read Japanese so no need for an English translation.
Thank you!

Embarrassed by how bad my writing is

I’ve read a few posts here about people embarrassed about the act of posting fanfiction. I don’t have that but I AM embarrassed by how dogshit my writing is. I’ve been writing semi-regularly for about five years and have probably written about a million word but my writing is still so BAD. And it takes me forever to write. I’m in awe of the people that can post high quality fics on a regular basis (including people that haven’t pre written them) and wishing I could be them/not cringe at my writing when I reread it.

Anyone else have that problem?

For the first time ever I’m into a fandom that has ZERO fics on ao3

Can it even be considered a fandom at that point too? 😭

I thought I’d been in dead/small fandoms before but it’s completely different when there’s absolutely ZERO fics to read from.

I keep going to search up fics forgetting it doesn’t even have a fandom tag on ao3 😭

I’ve already started writing fics myself for it but now I’m wondering if anyone will ever read it?

I have studied Japanese for around 2500-3000 hours and I still suck.

I know 500 hours difference is a big gap but because I never officially tracked my hours that’s my best guess.

When I say I suck I mean I can’t express myself in Japanese for the life of me. I can have basic conversation but no where near the level I would like. When I’m alone I talk to myself in Japanese and it comes so fluidly but as soon as I’m in front of someone I freeze up and forget everyone word I’ve ever learned. In general, I struggle to think of the word and have to talk around it but I have that issue in English too so maybe that’s just a me thing.

I can read. Kinda. I can understand the majority of texts but I constantly get bogged down with having to look up how it’s said every time. Even if I’m 95% sure i know I HAVE to look it up in case I’m wrong.

It’s like I recognise the kanji and know what they mean but I don’t 100% know the reading.
And I still hit sentences that I don’t understand more than I’d like. Especially sentences that rely heavily on context.

And listening. GOD. So frustrating. If there’s subtitles I can understand pretty much everything but that’s bc I’m just reading, but I REALLY struggle with listening even though I’ve put AT LEAST 1000 hours into it but it could be more. I have an audio processing disorder and I know that there’s some things that can’t be helped but it’s still so frustrating.

I go through these highs and lows, there’s so much I CAN do but even that comes with an asterisks, and there’s still so much I can’t, and even though I know it’ll come naturally with time, (I’ve come this far after all) I can’t help but compare myself or wonder if I should be better by now.

When I first started learning Japanese I read all the success stories about people with this amount of hours and it seemed so wonderful but I feel like I’m nowhere near their level.

If there’s anyone that’s studied the same amount as me, what were you able to do with that amount of hours? Is it normal to still feel like you’ve got so much more to go?

Did anyone not do any practice tests and pass?

I find doing practice tests so exhausting it completely tanks my motivation to study. I couldn’t get past even a few questions so I decided to not do any for n2 last year. Anyone else do this and pass?

The entirety Japanese dub of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is on Youtube for free.

Just wanted to share this resource in case people don’t know about it. It’s probably not as popular here due to its content 😅 but I loved this show as a child and found it really helpful for my Japanese. And the actors for the dub did an amazing job.

Japanese subtitles are also available. They’re auto-generated and aren’t accurate sometimes but they’re still helpful if you’re lost.

I’d probably recommend it over the Peppa Pig recommendation I see here a lot.

I really enjoyed season 1 but season 2 has been really slow, and on top of that I absolutely HATE Walter.

At first I felt sorry for him but he keeps making the most selfish stupid decisions and takes absolutely no accountability and treats everyone like shit. He’s so horrible it makes watching painful, I don’t think I can bear it much longer.

Is this show just not for me? Or should I keep giving it a shot?
