Disney+ Was Always the Right Home for Percy Jackson

Disney+ Was Always the Right Home for Percy Jackson

Despite criticisms of the show and Disney’s God awful promotion, I still genuinely think Disney+ is the perfect home for Percy Jackson. The franchise has so many elements that fit Disney naturally: mythology, adventure, found family, monsters, camp aesthetics, merch potential, etc.

I honestly think the series could become one of Disney+’s flagship franchises alongside stuff like Star Wars and Marvel if handled correctly. I really can’t picture it fitting as well anywhere else.

Why doesn’t Nate’s downfall feel satisfying?

Is anyone else not really feeling schadenfreude watching Nate get destroyed this season?

Nate has been one of the most terrifying/manipulative characters on Euphoria for years, so on paper Season 3 finally giving him consequences should feel satisfying. But honestly…I mostly just feel uncomfortable?

The toe scene especially crossed from “finally, karma” into something more grotesque and sad. I kept waiting to feel catharsis and instead it felt weirdly hollow. Almost like the show is intentionally denying the audience the clean satisfaction of revenge.

I’m curious if that’s by design. Have other viewers actually enjoyed watching Nate get torn down this season? Or does the punishment feel so excessive/bleak that it stops being satisfying?

I also wonder if part of it is that the show has softened or destabilized Nate’s characterization this season compared to Seasons 1–2, so the emotional payoff feels off.

I feel like some people are being a little quick to call “Pinky Up” a flop just because it’s falling on the Hot 100.

Yes, it debuted at #28, then dropped to #49, and now it’s projected to land somewhere in the 70s in its third week. That’s not great longevity-wise, but a #28 debut is still strong, especially for a newer global group. Also, the song has already passed 50 *million* streams on Spotify in under a month.

Not every release is meant to be a long-running hit. This dropped right before Coachella, so it could’ve just been timed as a promo push rather than something they planned to carry for months.

If longevity was the goal, we’d probably see a bigger radio push. We literally saw with “Gabriela” that once it got radio support, it grew over time and peaked at #21.

HxG clearly can push a song when they want to, so the lack of that here feels intentional more than anything.

Not saying the song is smashing, but calling it a flop just based on chart decline feels a little premature.

Something I keep thinking about after Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and even Sunrise on the Reaping is the mayor’s perspective after Lucy Gray disappears.

From his point of view it’s pretty straightforward. His daughter dies. Lucy Gray is there. Then Lucy Gray vanishes. That’s it.

And then there’s the Covey. They’re already outsiders, and now they’re tied to the person he probably blames. I could easily see him thinking they knew where she was or even helped her disappear.

It feels very likely that they caught hell for it. Not necessarily anything overt, but more constant scrutiny and quiet retaliation from someone in power who’s grieving and looking for somewhere to put it. I mean even if he was overt, who’s gonna check him?

Meanwhile Snow just walks away and ends up thriving in the Capitol while these people likely pay for his cruel choices.

Curious how other people see it. Do you think the mayor stayed stuck on that version of events? Do you think he thought the Covey was hiding her? And do you think the Covey paid for it?
