I got invited to a recruitment day at my dream job but I’m still studying
I’m at medical school and I’ve got 1.5 years left until I graduate. I’ve always wanted to work in healthcare, but my dream was also to become a flight attendant. I worked for almost 2 years at Ryanair but I resigned because they were cutting our wages and generally treating us badly.
Yesterday I applied to Emirates. I didn’t think too much about it, I just sent off my application and wanted to see if I’d even make the shortlist. I thought I didn’t stand a chance, but today I received an email inviting me to a recruitment day. I know this doesn’t automatically mean I’ll be hired, but I feel like this is my only chance to even give it a go.
On the other hand, I’ve devoted a lot of time and put a lot of effort into this medical school, and I’m practically at the finish line.
I don’t know if I should go to this recruitment day, because what if I get through all the stages and am offered a job? I’d definitely be happy, but I wouldn’t know what to do about my studies. I wouldn’t even be able to juggle it with the job because I’d have to move to Dubai.
There’s also the fact that I’m very concerned about what my mum thinks. I’ve changed my mind many times about what I want to do with my life. I studied Arabic, then worked for Ryanair, then went to medical school, and now I’d give that up again and go back into aviation? My mum supports me financially and I wouldn’t want her to feel she’d wasted that money.
However, I’d also really like to try and get this job, but even if I did get it, I still wouldn’t know what to do. Do you think I should go to the recruitment day or give it a miss, finish school and try my luck with the Emirates later?
Any advice is appreciated.
guess my mbti type!!
I studied Arabic at university, and now I'm in medical school and studying radiology. I'm interested in black magic, I do spells, and I do tarot readings. I really like rabbits; I have two. I like going out and I'm at a bar or club practically every weekend. The idea of being in a relationship and settling down doesn't appeal to me. I don't like small talk, I send a lot of voice notes to friends, and I'm open to new people and things.
I worked as a flight attendant for two years. I enjoy learning new languages and enjoy dark humor. I don't think much about the future; I tend to focus on the present, although sometimes I tend to dwell on what has already happened. I've often started new hobbies, but I get bored very quickly. I often ghost people when they don't have anything interesting to say. I’ve been told my personality is ‘fun’ and ‘entertaining’.
i’m the one who speaks up when everyone else stays quiet. i’m always defending my opinion and i tend to give an attitude. i’m straight forward and there’s nothing i wouldn’t talk about
i’m unhealthily obsessed with heels, the conjuring universe and witchcraft. i love playing the sims too :)
